West Bend 12-Cup Coffee Maker, Black

West Bend 12-Cup Coffee Maker, BlackI like the product EXCEPT that the pour lip of the pot is not well made. You MUST pour VERY slowly or the coffee spills down the front of the pot. This is the third West Bend I have had since 1990. They DO last about 10 years.

When pouring, do so only over a sink. I have yet to be able to pour a cup without the design flaws causing at least a drip and frequently a diverted flow running down the pot. In addition to the spout problems, my second cup of the morning is a mess maker because condensation from the lid drips by the spout area and and the flow is disrupted causing the anoying and dangerous flow of hot coffee down the decanter.

Sorry, I like the looks, but unless you plan to modify the spout by filing it with emory cloth or gluing on an extended spout, be safe and get another system.

But the problem with the coffee maker is that it smells, we have used it for 2 months now and continues to smell of plastic cannot stand it anymore. We have had it since October it is now December.

I worry that someday it will just catch on fire. I am going to call the maker tomorrow and see about returning it under the 1 year warranty.

Very disppointed

West Bend is suppose to be made in USA also, but I found out at the bottom of the product made in CHINA!

I have the box to return it to the company, waste of my time and money.

I am basing my review on the fact that the coffee maker has no automatic shut off. I will return it as I just recieved it. If you want a coffee maker that does not have a shut off then perhaps it would be all-right. I don't particularly like the careff since it can be hard to pour unless you pour real slow. But I never did return it as I originally intended. It does make good coffee if that is all you care about and don't need or want an automatic shut-off.
