KRUPS XL2000 Milk Frother with Cappuccino Latte and Hot Milk features, Silver

I used my frother for the first time this morning, so this review does not speak to durability, just out-of-the-box function. It does exactly what it's supposed to. The thing produced a beautiful pitcher full of foamy skim milk, and I am enjoying a delicious cafe au lait as I type this. It was very easy to clean, too -the agitator pops right out for a quick rinse.

I know...I shouldn't review something the very first day that I own it, but this is special! I have tried to steam milk into existence as cappuccino foam for YEARS and it NEVER worked. So I bought this beautiful little gadget -by the way -it's only 6 and a half inches tall as it sits on its electrical connector. I poured in 2% milk (not the zero fat milk that my steam foamers required, and I pushed the cappuccino button and in about a minute and a half the thing stopped and I took off the lid AND THE MACHINE WAS FULL UP TO THE LID WITH HOT, FIRM MILK FOAM. I spooned this into two cups that had some leftover strong morning coffee (sumatra -good stuff) and a little sugar and a sprinkle of cinnamon and WE HAD THE BEST TWO CUPS OF CAPPUCCINO since the last time we were in Starbucks. This Krups (made in France) XL2000 Milk Frother is WONDERFUL ! I promise that after I've had the thing for a year or so that if it gives trouble or breaks I'll say something in this review but for right now I heartily recommend it!.

3rd Day:

It's EASY to clean. Just run water into it. The inside surfaces have a finish that is particularly resistant to stuff sticking to it. The finish appears to be in the metal itself and not an applied plastic. The milk doesn't scald in it so you can wipe the inside with a paper towel and all is clean. My 2% milk gives me a good foam that I can pour out of the machine instead of having to spoon out firmer foam. I haven't tried skim milk in it. Skim milk would probably make firmer foam but I like what I'm getting.

I have been using this product at work for a while now and it honestly transforms my afternoon coffee from a boring pick me up to a fantastic cappuccino! It creates very, very thick rich foam (here's a hint: skim milk actually makes the best foam. Not sure why something to do with milk fat in whole milk....) for cappuccinos and lattes, and is awesome at heating up milk for hot chocolate, vanilla steamers, etc.

I just got a unit to use at home for my morning coffee and my wife's chai tea lattes. This is really a fantastic product!

I currently live in sydney, lived in seattle for 20+ years and can be a little snobby about my latte. So when I first saw the frother on our sales floor I thought, who'd pay that much for something like that, then we got one in our break room... Everybody loves it and it is used constantly. It's easy to clean and we've had no problems. So I picked one up for the house. Only problems I've had with it is that everyone that visits from the states falls in love with it and we buy more milk than we used to. Amazon was the only place I found that I could buy one that works in the states.

If I had known that this product existed, I would have purchased it 30 years ago. One little complaint: the markings for the milk level on the inside of the cup are extremely difficult to read.
