This is an outstanding frother. Measure enough milk to fill the pitcher about 1/3 to 1/2 full, warm the milk slightly, pump for 15 or 20 seconds. A slightly "rapid" pumping action is used, but does not to be so quick or vigorous to need any great strain or exertion.

Produces very good microfoam, although there is a noticeable amount (about one part in twenty) of larger bubbles on the top. Perhaps an extreme coffee connoisseur might find this critical, but it is unlikely to be an issue for most users.

Have previously owned two of the Bodum 5-oz frothers (earlier model). They worked very well. But, unfortunately, the screen/frothing element on those was overly-complicated and had a plastic part which was prone to breaking due to normal usage.

In comparison, this Harold Import model is very sturdy and simple. The one plastic component is made of a type of plastic that is not so brittle and is unlikely to break from the plunging action. Of course the stainless steel (in comparison to glass) is not going to break is tipped over or dropped.

The relatively lower price reflects the simple construction -it is not fancy, it is made to accomplish the task. As an example, the handle is attached to the pitcher with a three-point spot weld -probably wouldn't notice it, unless looking closely, but it's only to make a secure attachment, not to be artistic.

This is not a product that is the result of "planned obsolescence," I expect to be using this little unit for many years.

Put your money back in your pocket, save the environment and landfills no batteries required and still produces an excellent cup of frothed milk! We have and own two of these exact frothers purchased from Marshall's. Simply put they work great.

1) warm up milk in microwave

2) make a cup of strong coffee (espresso, french press, etc.)

3) fill frother with warm milk to not more than 1/3 level

4) pump lever semi-vigorously for a few seconds (~10 pumps)

5) add frothed milk to cup

The milk volume nearly triples and the frothed milk lasts throughout the drinking experience does not go flat.

To clean, it's best to immediately pour hot or cold water into frother and give several pumps. It thoroughly cleans the screen. Also dishwasher safe.

The easy of use of this very simple device cannot be overly emphasized. Works great, cheap, and saves the environment. NOTE: we own several espresso machines with built-in steam "frothers" this little manual frother is second to none!

This is a great little frother. It makes enough froth for about two cups of coffee. After a few tries I found out the key to making the best froth. The key is to let the milk get hot (but not boiling) before trying to froth. This way it froths in just a few plunges. FIY only fill it half way up with milk to prevent overflow with frothing! We enjoy Coffee & Tea Latte drinks as well as Hot Chocolate & Hot Vanilla drinks.

This little milk frother appealed to me because it is made of stainless steel which should survive the marine enviornment on our boat & out camping as well as at home.

I fill it half way with organic whole milk, and froth it over a medium flame till the milk gets sweet and aerated.

It does not take much work, but if you are too aggressive, the foam will start to leak out of the top while you are plunging, a little finesse will prevent this.

We have used it everyday for 2 weeks and are very happy with the purchase.

This frother is extremely basic, which is a plus as far as maintaining it goes. I put it in the top rack of the dishwasher, and it seems to be holding up fine so far. And, as long as you are frothing a large amount of milk, it does the job. If you use less than half a cup, though, the air doesn't flow through the milk enough to froth it. Additionally, it does not work well when using warm or hot milk. I first froth the cold milk, then place it in a microwave-safe cup to heat. It's rather a pain, since I'm the only one in my family who likes frothed milk in coffee. I end up wasting a lot of milk. I gave it three stars, because I've been through a number of battery operated and non-electric frothers, and this one is probably just above average. I DO like the fact that the container is metal, since I've broken several glass frothing containers.

TRU Burr Grinder, Holds 1/2-Pound Coffee Beans

I bought this because my Capresso Conical grinder conked out. I didn't want to buy another Capresso because I wasn't that thrilled with its performance. (Ground coffee gets packed around the grinding burr and is hard to get out. Also the machine generates a lot of static electricity, so when you pull the container away from the machine coffee gets all over the place.)

This Tru machine doesn't seem to have those problems, particularly not the annoying static electricity one. No coffee ends up on the counter. It also seems to grind to any size needed. A couple reviewers had problems not being able to grind for espresso. I had the opposite problem, the machine was grinding for espresso and I wanted drip. After playing around with the top (which controls the grind) I got what I needed. The settings on the machine just aren't very accurate or precise. But for under $40 bucks, I can live with that.

I purchased another inexpensive burr grinder that ground beans just fine, only problem was more coffee ended up on the counter than in the container. However, this grinder leaves zero coffee behind, it all goes into the container. I have been using this grinder now for a week, and it is easy to clean, fairly quiet (for a grinder) and not messy. I'm sure some people may ding it for not being able to grind anything other than coffee, but it's a coffee grinder, not a spice or nut grinder. Based on the fact this is a coffee grinder, it is an excellent coffee grinder and it is well worth the purchase, especially if you don't want to drop over a benjamin for a grinder.

I'm glad my blade grinder died, now I can have properly ground coffee with no "half beans" in the mix. Give this grinder a shot, you'll probably be impressed by it.

This is one of the best burr grinders I have purchased...consistent grind, very easy to use and very little mess. The biggest problem however, is that it will not grind fine enough for espresso, which is what I purchased it for. Regardless of what the manufacturer says, it's really only made for a French Press (coarse grind) or drip coffee maker (fine grind).

When you consider what you're getting for the price, I think this is a great deal!

I have a Drip, an electric (Presto 12 cup) percolator, a Bonjour Monet 8 cup French press, a 3 cup Bialetti Moka Express, and lastly an espresso maker. What can I say, I like coffee. I like the variety of coffees I can produce with this range of machines. Up until now I have been using a Braun Grinder which I bought many years ago for $20. I had successfully, for years, been using that grinder for all my coffee needs with satisfactory results.

For just a little more than I purchased one of those old school grinders I got the TRU Burr Grinder and I love it.

I have not had a problem making the grind fine enough for my espresso machine or coarse enough for my French press and everything in between. Everything is relative however. Perhaps a purist, or retired coffee house barista, would take exception. For me, however, I was able to make the same serious 'get-the-HELL-up-and-GO' strength brew out of my espresso maker with the fine grind of this machine.

I use this grinder 1-3 times a day. I've made coffee for 12 with my Presto perc and coffee for 2 for my wife and I with consistently delicious results. I like strong coffee. Very quickly I determined the ratio of 2 to 3 when I make coffee with this grinder. If I make 6 cups in the perc, I set the quantity selector to 9. If I make 10 cups I set it to 15. Works every time! Of course you may have to come up with a ratio that suits your tastes, but that's easy.

I did a lot of research and this price point is pretty much the entry point for burr grinders which go up into the hundreds! So, if you'd like to treat yourself, and don't consider yourself a coffee 1%'er then you'll probably be quite satisfied.

I'm no coffee snob but I'm no slouch either. If this thing sucked I'd tell ya.

The ground catcher does not shimmy away while grinding. All the grounds go into the container and not on your counter.

Again, for the price, it would be hard to do better!! I am completely satisfied. With that, I highly recommend the TRU Burr Grinder.

This is not a burr grinder. It is an impeller grinder masquerading as a burr grinder. Underneath a metal plate meant to look like a burr are impeller blades like those found in the high speed impeller coffee grinders. You can tell this the instant you turn it on because it makes the high pitch whir of an impeller grinder. Like all impeller grinders, this grinder produces a grind with a lot of fines no matter how coarse the setting, which makes for very BITTER coffee. The low cost IS too good to be true. Don't buy it unless you want something a little more automatic but which produces the same results as a conventional impeller grinder.

"I bought this from a local VT dealer. For the first couple of weeks the coffee was great strong as we like it. But then, quality completely changed and I had trouble with the brewing of the coffee thereafter. My local dealer wasn't "trained by Bosch" to service and it took me from 2008 to 2011 to get a qualified service person to look at the machine. Bosch Customer Service sent new parts ahead for service and when they were replaced there was NO improvement. The serviceman deemed the coffee 'good', but admitted he didn't like or drink coffee! When I said that it seemed that the water wasn't remaining on the pod long enough he didn't know anything about it or the brewing process.

My son has a different built-in coffee maker, which is very good, and when mine was new, the coffee from it was comparable to his. But it didn't remain good and there is nothing we can do to improve it. We've tried all kinds of beans to no avail.We have filtered water, apart from the Bosch filter.

Repeated calls to Bosch have told me that there is nothing further that they can do. I feel that a replacement is due to us at the very least...for an expensive coffee machine. My $9.99 coffee maker does a better job."

Looks good in our remodeled kitchen, and certainly brews a decent cup of coffee. However, whether for reasons of quality or use, it just doesn't hold up well. Ours hit about the 2 year mark and just got very finicky: doesn't grind, gives error message saying internal trays are missing when they're not (and by the way, do you have any idea how annoying it is for a coffee maker to give you an error message? An erronious one?), and similiar problems. Local dealer doesn't have properly trained personnel to repair, manufacturer customer service just notes that its out of warranty and probably not worth repairing. If it's not worth repairing after 2 years, then it wasn't worth buying in the first place. It's like an electronic gadget that just won't work anymore. Only this thing sits in my kitchen...mocking me.

If you like really strong expresso, this machine does not deliver. Even at the extra strong and small espresso settings, the coffee is quite strong but does not have that special espresso flavor. The water and expelled coffee container are too small and after 6 or 7 morning coffees, tray and grounds must be emptied. The directions say NOT to use extra dark coffee beans (which you only find out when reading the instructions after unpacking the machine) but then coffee would taste even less like espresso. Also, installed machine must be ventilated, which is another instruction discovered after unpacking. The Miele is quite a bit more expensive but having tasted the espresso at a friend's house and found it to be excellent, wonder if I should not have paid the extra bucks.

After being installed and working for 2 days, the machine stopped working. Bosch customer service was excellent and scheduled a repairman out in a few days. Machine needed a new pump which had to be ordered. After the new pump was installed, still did not work so had to order a new brew box. Working fine now, but 2 main parts defective after 2 days, not good.

I have now being using this coffee maker for 3 months. No problems. I am meticulous about keeping it clean and the coffee taste great. Easy to use. Just don't like the fact that you have to constantly add water and empty the tray. A built in water line is ideal but you will spend an extra $1000.00 for the Miele. Not sure that money is worth it. Read prior review, not sure what happened. Bosch products are usually excellent. Would definitely get this again.
