Krups XP7230 Compact Fully Automatic Espresso Machine

Krups XP7230 Compact Fully Automatic Espresso MachineI have had this machine for 3 years now, and it has been sent back to the manufacturer 3 times... Stay away, many problems.

This is the only coffee machine I've had that will deliver better than coffee shop espresso. It has the crema/foam on the top, the mark of a quality espresso, I keep the machine in my office, visitors marvel at the magnificence of their java, the machine is completely automatic, rated tops in Consumer Reports. I'm amazed that diners are still able to get top dollar for burnt coffee, with the knowledge of this coffee maker, that primative and savage way of life will come to an end.

Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker

Mr. Coffee Iced Tea MakerI've had four or five of these Mr. Coffee brand brewers starting in about 1994, and all of them were different. Most lasted at least a year, and my current model -one with a separate steeping chamber that attaches to the heating tower and not the pitcher -has probably brewed well over 1000 pitchers. I'm writing here because of the many petty complaints I've read about this $20 workhorse. On mine, the valve stopped working correctly after about 10 pitchers, but I just leave it almost closed and it drains slowly enough to brew just fine (some earlier models were actually designed this way). As for the dishwasher, I've run my pitcher, lids, and steeping chamber through well over 100 cycles (I do it once a week or so). All you have to do is turn off the dryer stage, dummies; that's what melts stuff. I'm ordering another one, not because this one has broken, but after three or four years it's probably on borrowed time. For my $20 I'm sure I'll get another 2000 or 3000 glasses of tea, but I'm sure I can find something to whine about.

I had received my first Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker many years ago and recently when it decided to quit working I went shopping for a replacement. There was only a newer model available locally and I did purchase it, but was very disappointed. After a couple of months, I went on-line to see if I could find the "old" type model and when I did, I purchased 2. I am very happy with my new Mr. Coffee Tea Maker and I love the new yellow color. Thanks Amazon!

We got this teapot for our wedding over 13 years ago and use it regularly (almost everyday). We have had absolutely no problems with it (except for melting the pot in the dishwasher once, but we were able to purchase a replacement). It is still going strong. When it does finally stop working, we will definitely buy a new one.

It makes a great pot of tea!

I love iced tea, but only if it is made correctly. With this tea maker it is easy to get the same quality every time. We use it at least once every day, sometimes twice. I find it easy to use and easy to clean, you would have to work very hard to mess up a pot of tea with this tea maker.

I absolutely love this machine. It makes a perfect quick brew of iced tea every time. I like to add lemon juice and a small can of pineapple juice for a fruity flavor. I like to drink iced tea all day long. Just be careful with the pitcher (only use it for the iced tea machine). I've had to buy this machine twice because my mother ruined my pitcher (don't ask me how). LOL Fabulous price for a great machine.

Napoletana inox 9 cups

Napoletana inox 9 cupsnot intuitively obvious. I had problems until a friend mentioned I was using it incorrectly.

lots of spillage. correct: Pour water in bottom part of pot, insert bottom of filter in that water filled part, add coffee into filter,

screw on top of filter. then put spout part of pot on the top of everything, heat over a stove

until heated water rises slightly through tiny vent hole, in the bottom part. turn off heat.

carefully take to counter or sink, turn everything upside down. that's when the hot water passes through the filter and

through the contained coffee. very easy after 1-2 practice tries. fun to use. no plastic!

I was really excited to purchase this coffee maker, but once I used it, I was a lttle disappointed. I find it difficult to screw the top back on when I fill in the coffee, and the top tips over when I pour the boiling water into it. I thought that for the money I spent on it, that it would be a better coffee maker. Also the middle section where you put the coffee in has already changed color. The outer part still looks great.

Forever Espresso Miss Moka 3 Cup Espresso Maker.

Forever Espresso Miss Moka 3 Cup Espresso Maker.I bought one of these at a market in Naples Italy, for 10 euros (maybe 15 bucks American). But I could have haggled him down if I'd wanted to. This was one of the best investments I've made. Everyone in Italy brews with these little Moka pots more than with espresso machines. To be fair, these "technically" aren't espresso, but to our tastebuds they are the same. The difference is that these moka pots generally do not produce the rich crema on the top--the mark of a true espresso. At a fraction of the price you can approach the quality of countertop espresso machines, and far outclass anything you'd get out of a typical america-style coffee maker. This is a simple machine to use, it brews up a nice strong cup of espresso-type coffee. Its sturdy aluminum. I use mine about every other day or so, and down the whole 3 cups myself in an iced coffee or a big cappuccino. Just know that a 3 cup, means about 5.5-6 ozs. I got a little stirring wand, a frothing pitcher, and this--total of $40--make my own cappuccinos, lattes and machiattos. It does take some practice, especially to make a cappuccino, but here's how to use this machine right on the first try.

1) Unscrew the top (the carafe) from the bottom portion (the basin).

2) Remove the brew basket from between them (its seated in the basin)

3) Fill the basin with water up to the steam nozzle (a tiny pressure release valve on the interior wall of the basin. Its hard to miss)

4) Replace the brew basket in the basin. It should rest just above the water, with none spilling into the basket.

5) Fill the brew basket to slightly overflowing with espresso ground coffee (finer than normal drip or french grind, coarser than Turkish grind). Any kind of coffee bean will do, only use the dark "espresso" beans if you don't mind a mildly burnt flavor to your coffee.

6) Do not tamp down, or just tamp lightly. This is not a full-on espresso machine and it doesn't generate the kind of pressure those do to justify a hard tamp.

7) Screw the top back on. Snug, so no water leaks out, but not so tight that you risk breaking it to open again.

8) Heat on stovetop at Medium (5-7 out of 10)

9) After 3-7 minutes you'll hear the coffee percolate up and dribble down, inside the carafe. This is normal and lets you know that it will be done brewing soon.

10) Promptly remove from burner when the Moka pot gives off steam and starts making gasping/exhaling noises. It has finished percolating (ie: no water left at the bottom).

11) Serve immediately for best flavor.

* You can also seal the espresso in an airtight jar (I use old, washed out, spaghetti sauce jars) and refrigerate (perhaps with 1 : 2.5 coffee to whole milk ratio, and 2-3tbsp sugar, 1tbsp chocolate powder). Shake to stir, refrigerating promptly afterwards. The chilling has a different, pleasant affect on the coffee, just don't let the coffee get luke warm sitting out on the counter, or overcook sitting in the hot brew-basket (even off the burner). Chilling reduces the acidity of the coffee without hurting the caffeine. Net result, a fine iced coffee that is easier on the stomach but still a great perk.

* If you heat the pot too fast, or if you leave the pot on the burner, after the coffee has finished percolating, then it will burn the coffee. Good espresso should taste strong, a little rich, maybe even sweet, but never burnt. If your coffee does taste burnt, but you've tried it my way, then you may want to invest in better (lighter) beans.

* To clean, I usually just run cool water over it to cool it down (if I can't wait), then rinse all three parts individually with warm water, no soap. Sometimes I'll wipe down any oily residue if any remains. But warm water should do the trick.

I am posting this review to balance the incorrect review of "Loki" below, who rated this product a "1" because of her misunderstanding of the product rather than the product itself. Her reason for rating it a "1" is that it is "too small." Having lived in Italy for 3 years, I can say with certainty that it is the correct size to make 3 cups of Italian coffee/espresso. One can always add hot water to make an "Americano" and fill a larger cup/mug.

I got this as a replacement for a similar pot made by another company, that I wore out. I found the old one difficult to clean thoroughly. This one has a smoother finish, and cleans up well. It works great, is simple to use, and fits the bill for a quick morning cup of espresso

Love, love, love this little pot. I was going to the coffee shop every morning and waiting 15-20 minutes for my latte. Now I have my latte in about 5 minutes. I won't even go into the savings. I now know what I will be giving for my espresso loving friends for Christmas. I'm glad I trusted the reviews on Amazon regardng this product.

1 Take off heat straightaway. Yup gotta do that.

2 It leaks. You are overfilling the coffee holder.

3 Cleaning. Only ever rinse out with warm water. Scrub with your finger tips only. Let an oxide layer build up (patina).

Best tip brew and throw away three pots of coffee before drinking your first cup.

Chefmate® 12-Cup Coffeemaker

Chefmate® 12-Cup CoffeemakerI've read a number of reviews on this item...there are folks who seem to buy one and it lasts and works well forever. But there seem to be more that have the same problem I did. I bought this yesterday at Target for under $10. It worked exactly twice and then stopped working completely. The red power light works, but nothing brews and the hotplate doesn't heat up. I read on another web site that it's a switch inside that goes bad. It said you can try and press around on the top to activate that switch, but you might have to keep doing it during the whole brewing process. Another review suggested it was a fuse that was too small. Either way, I'm taking mine back to Target and going back to a Mr Coffee.

My Ancient Mr. Coffee 8 cup died after 5 years of use and countless times being left on all day / overnight. I needed something new and cheap, as money is tight this month with the daughter's birthday coming up. I saw this coffee maker at Target for under $10.00 and made the purchase. I did not think that it would last a long time, or make particularly good coffee, but I thought it would be on par with my old basic skills Mr. Coffee and would last long enough until I was ready to spring for a more serious coffee maker.

On day 3, I got up, filled it with coffee and water, hit the power button, and stepped away for about 10 minutes. When I returned, nothing had happened. The heating element went out in it I assume, after just 2 days of coffee making.

I guess you get what you pay for, but for $10 bucks, it could have at least lasted 2 weeks. Don't waste any money on this machine.

I had this coffeepot for about 3 weeks and it was working fine.

Unfortunately one day I was using it, and it had been on for about an hour or so (to keep my coffee warm) and I noticed an odd smell. My window was open so I thought it may have come from outside. I turn and look at my coffeepot and realize it was SMOKING. I immediately turned it off and unplugged it from the outlet. The smoke was curling from the bottom of the machine.

Everything was fine, and I threw it out the next day, but it completely freaked me out. I mean it could have started a fire if it was left on any longer. What if I had happened to go in the next room for a little while? I know you're not supposed to leave appliances on unattended but really? An hour and it short circuits?

Dangerous product!!!!

I cannot recommend this coffee pot enough. It not only brews strong, good coffee in a timely manner, but it is also a very effective ballistic missile.

It has survived one of my drunken roommates hurling it across not one, but THREE rooms at another roommate's head! HOW BADAASS IS THAT?!

It is also quite effective as a melee weapon when the original target recovered the missile and proceeded to demolish the kitchen with it.

Kitchen: trashed

Coffee Pot: INTACT!!!

Good to keep in the home for a cup of GOOD MORNING AMERICA! and also good when the Nazis invade.
