This is my 3rd Tassimo brewer; 1st (T20) still going strong at work; the 2nd one was a Tassimo Single-Serve Coffee Brewer TAS1000UC and this is the 3rd one replacing the now dead T1000UC.
The main coffee that keeps me a Tassimo customer is the quality of the brew; there is just nothing else better other than going to your local barista.
As far as the brewer, I am disappointed that this brewer seems like a step back from the T1000UC. It does looks better, but that is the only thing better than the T1000. It has a bigger foot print (wider). The water tank has to be taken off in order to refill with water, something were I could refill the T1000 from the top without having to remove the water tank; is this a big deal? Well, it is just inconvenient as if you lack the space you have to provide about 6 to 10 inches in depth in order to remove the water tank.
The cup stand looks better, but it is just awkward, it does not snap into place easy, I always have to fiddle around to make sure that the guides line up, and it is easy to inserted wrongly leaving the cup not flat. 12 days into the purchase, the brewer just stopped reading the T-Discs, including the service disk; spent 3 hours cleaning 100% and ensuring that the piercing unit and the drink dispenser were inserted correctly; the snapping mechanism of the clamp seems to have some kind of flaw; if it does not has the right amount of pressure it wont read the T-Disc; and guess what? you can't even dispense hot water from it which it is really a design failure. Come on Bosch/Tassimo; I know your bar code system is awesome; but you gotta give your customers some latitude of at least dispensing hot water. So, had to return and exchange the brewer and I am now on day 1 without any malfunction hoping that I don't have to deal with the same again.
Update: Day 4 into the replacement. So far no issues with reading the T-Discs and brewing excellent coffee. One positive note that I didn't get before; I can easily use basically any size cup size without issues; from a small 3oz espresso, to the tall 12oz Bodum glasses. Bumping review to 3 stars, because without the brewer I could not have the awesome brews of the espressos and dark house coffee that I love. See pictures.Wellll, I can't quibble with the quality of the coffee. It tastes great and I love the fact that the brewer dispenses a beverage instantly. My main point of contention is that its coffee is not available where I grocery shop. I bought the brewer at Bed, Bath and Beyond, and was assured by the sales clerk that I would be able to find the coffee "T discs" anywhere. I shop at Publix, which carries Keurig coffee packs but not Tassimo. Tassimo's coffee discs are very specific; they have a bar code that regulates temperature, the amount of water used, etc. So nothing else works in brewer. You can't use generic. You can't use a little basket thingy that holds loose coffee or tea. I took the Tassimo back and exchanged it for a Keurig. The Keurig doesn't heat water as fast but it's a suitable replacement. Too bad about Tassimo--the concept is great, but its coffee availability isn't.
