Factory-Reconditioned Cuisinart DCC-450BKFR 4-Cup Coffeemaker with Stainless Steel Carafe, Black

Factory-Reconditioned Cuisinart DCC-450BKFR 4-Cup Coffeemaker with Stainless Steel Carafe, BlackI was sure that because this was a Cuisinart product that it would be a great coffee pot, but I am not happy with it because every time I pour myself a cup, no matter how careful I am, it drips everywhere, and my counters end up covered in coffee. This has been true since the day I got it. If it wasn't for that one incredibly fatal flaw, I'd love this pot. The other feature that I've had in other coffee pots, that I miss in this one, is a removable reservoir. Not a deal breaker, but it sure would make me like this coffee pot a lot more.

I do, however, LOVE the stainless steel. Not only is it easier to keep clean, it's nice that it doesn't look dirty if it DOES need to be cleaned. I will agree that the 30 minute shut off is a little too short, but I personally am just happy that it has that feature at all, so I won't complain too much about that.

This product is OK--if you like cleaning your counter tops.

As an additional noteI purchased this product new, not factory reconditioned.

came like new, it was clean everything wrapped in plastic. i have had no problems with it and i love the fact that it uses little counter space and can easily hide it in my cabinets when not in use.

Pristine condition for a refurbished product. Makes a great hot cup of coffee (really hot). No spillage problems, carafe looked new. I am very impressed with this product for the price. Worth 20 bucks just for a coffee maker with auto-shutoff and thermal carafe -let alone a nice Cuisinart like this!

This coffee pot is awesome!!! The only grief I have is one mentioned by others....the 30 minute shut-off time is too short. I highly recommend purchasing the filter that goes with this coffee maker....unless that is, your drainage system is processed through a field bed. (The coffee grinds stick to the filter but are easily removed under running water...however, those who have a septic system/field bed, all know that we do not want coffee grinds accumulating in the field bed.)

I couldn't believe it -when I pulled the coffee maker out of the box, I found coffee stains on the carafe, coffee stains on the inside and outside of the maker, and coffee grounds/coffee residue on the inside filter area. I have no idea whether this unit was remanufactured or not, but I am quite confident that it has not been washed since it was sent back to Cuisinart. Really, truly disturbing.

Handpresso Wild ESE in RED

Handpresso HPWILD Wild 16-Bar Hand-Pump Portable Espresso MachineI have had this product for a couple of months now. I have a rich history of trying to find something to take with me on the road to the improve hotel coffee situation. I started with a single cup Melitta electric drip coffee maker (remember those!), a Krups, a Velox, an electric Bialetti moka pot, an Aeropress, etc. I hate to go to a hotel, find a maker with coffee filters and think things are fine until 6 AM in the morning when you realize BOTH filters are de-caf! The hotel coffee makers range from OK to horrible! The coffee too!

I purchased the HandPresso out of desperation! I have a semi-professional espresso machine (VBM) and roast my own beans. I was not impressed with the ESE pods, but am VERY happy with them in the HandPresso! I like the idea I do not have to touch grounds in the morning like with the Aeropress. I carry a cup, some pods, and the HandPresso. I boil water (I am still looking for a very small electric boiling pot, but have an immersion coil), pump up the HandPresso, pre-heat my espresso cup and the water cup on the HandPresso, dump both, re-fill the HandPresso, pop in a pod, and in 25-seconds or so have a great shot of espresso! Got carried away one morning and had 4 in a row! WOW!

This device is extremely well made and and will probably last a long time. It will get field testing from me. Hope the TSA does not think it is some sort of nasty device in my bag!! The coffee pods give it away.

I've had my Handpresso for over six months now. Being Italian-born and raised, I live on a steady diet of espresso and need my fix at least twice a day. My workplace only has a small coffee stand which makes the worst espresso in the world, and there aren't any other coffee shops in a 2 miles radius, so brewing my own was the only way to satisfy my coffee needs.

I previously bought a AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker, which is advertised as an espresso maker but actually produces something closer to a french press drip coffee. Granted, it was cheap but that's pretty much the only good thing about it: it does not make a real espresso and is definitely more high-maintenance and labor-intensive, requiring filters and thorough cleaning after each use. I stopped using it after a couple of days because it was too much of a hassle and the espresso wasn't very good anyway.

The Handpresso on the other hand is simplicity itself. All you need is hot water and ESE coffee pods (I use 150 Lavazza Gran Crema Espresso Pods). I've been using it 2 o 3 times a day for six months and couldn't be happier. Yes, it's a bit expensive but being able to get a decent cup of espresso makes it worthy of the premium price tag for me.

The device is very sturdy and requires only minimal maintenance (just rinse it out) since the coffee and filters are self-contained in the ESE pods. If you have access to hot water, it takes less than a minute to prepare the Handpresso, stick the coffee pod in it, brew a shot of espresso, discard the pod and clean the machine.

Customer support from the distributor is also outstanding -I misplaced one of the little rubber gaskets that come with the Handpresso (the only moving/replaceable part) and wrote to the distributor (Importika) and they mailed me a replacement free of charge. I was very impressed.

If you are an espresso-freak and want a truly portable and easy-to-use device, this is it.

Initial Impression

I was a bit skeptical that I could get a decent shot of espresso from a portable machine. And while it doesn't develop as much crema as my home machine (and I wouldn't expect it to considering that machine is over $1,500) this thing is a GREAT way for me to get my espresso fix at work.

Value

The build quality of the Handpresso is top notch, commensurate with its price (i.e. you get what you pay for). It should last quite a while. I was pleased to find that it comes with an extra O-ring gasket.

It's already paid for itself in savings I don't buy espresso at Starbuck's anymore. It also IMHO brews a way more drinkable shot than Starbucks ever did they really need to clean their machines and train their alleged "baristas".

Tips

For hot water, I use my office kitchen's hot water dispenser and you really need very hot water to get a good shot, so take some care not to scald yourself. The only downside is I'm getting a lot of requests from co-workers to brew them a shot.

Pros: Small size. Fun to pump up in the morning; it wakes you up! Nice to use just one espresso pod and neatly toss it away when finished (like a tea bag). Easy to rinse out handpresso and lid after use.

Cons: Clunky shape gets clunkier when you need to leave the unit and lid separate to dry between uses. Leaks in two places: the button valve, the sides of cap. When the handpresso is in the last unit of pressure, it spews crema in a wide radius surrounding the cup, not straight down into your waiting cup. Be prepared for a major spew cleanup. This means that you can not dispense espresso directly into a small 3.5 6 once cup. The bigger the cup the better so you can put the handpresso as low as possible so that the spewing is contained in the cup. However, you will need to pour from large cup to an espresso/latte/cappucino cup. With each cup change, the espresso cools off. (Yes, I heat the milk. Doing everything I can to keep things hot. :)) Handpresso is not cheap. Required espresso pods are costly.

I tried, but it's difficult to explain the ins/outs of the handpresso's cons.

Want Handpresso Wild ESE in RED Discount?

Like others on here I got the handpresso to make espresso at work. It worked great for about 5 months, then after it would no longer release the pressure unless you let it sit for over 20 minutes. When I emailed importika they informed me they would repair it, but I would be charged 15 dollars for shipping to and from.

This would be a great product, but however sadly it does not last long and the company that sells it does not stand behind their product.

1500 Watt Deep Fryer (White)

1500 Watt Deep FryerI got this product for $25 at Freds. I thought i picked a fryer that the basket and the actual cooking pot could be taken out and cleaned seperately from the base. The fryer works GREAT! I love this fryer, although it is my first I feel it is a very good buy.

Eric

my fry daddy died after about 7 years of loyal service. so i bought this from a local discount store in town. they sell reconditioned equipment, so that might have had something to do with it. bottom line it just did not get hot enough. i would put frys in, but they never would "float", they just came out soggy and rubbery. i am returning it and going back to the tried and true fry daddy. i suggest you do the same.

Melitta Natural Brown Basket Coffee Filter, #4 - 100 Count

Melitta Natural Brown Basket Coffee Filter, #4 - 100 CountThe melitta natural brown basket filters are consistently shaped and don't add anything unexpected to the coffee taste. The natural brown filter may mean that you are avoiding the bleaching chemicals of the white filters. These hold the coffee well and don't rip or overflow like some filters. The big problem at the time of the review is the price with prime shipping. At the time of this review it is listed at 8 dollars for 100 with prime shipping. you can buy it at militta for 3.99! It seems that amazon is charging you for prime service which is supposed to provide free shipping, and then dishonestly doubling the price (4 dollars more!) to cover the shipping. This is clearly unfair and violates the intent of the agreement for prime shipping! come on amazon give us a fair price and don't charge us twice for shipping on this item.

Seriously? 7.99??? the price is so crazy! I went to Market Basket today and found out they only sold 1.99!!!

What else can you say? It's a filter, you put coffee in it, and you pour hot water through it and in the end you have the wonderful beverage known as coffee.

I have tried every filter paper for coffee preparation known to man. There is none better than the Melitra Natural Brown Coffee Filter.

"In 1908, Melitta Bentz, a housewife from Dresden, Germany, invented the first coffee filter. On July 8, 1908, Melitta Bentz received a patent registration for her "Filter Top Device lined with Filter Paper" from the Patent Office in Berlin. The 35-year-old housewife was transformed into a businesswoman and, during the same year of her invention, the company bearing her name was established. In the 1930s, Melitta revisited the original filter top and tapered the filter into a cone-shape. This new filter top created a larger filtration area, which was lined with ribs to allow for improved extraction of the ground coffee. A few years later, Melitta introduced cone-shaped filter paper to fit inside the new cone-shaped filter top.

Melitta continued to develop new techniques to improve the shape, performance, material and production process of the Melitta filter systems. In 1989, Melitta introduced Natural Brown filter paper, the first coffee filters made from unbleached pulp. These new and improved filters kept unwanted by-products from leaching into the environment. In 1992, due to the popularity of white filter paper, Melitta developed an oxygen-bleaching process to produce white filter paper without chlorine. In 1997, Melitta developed another filter with Flavor Pores, microfine perforations that allow more coffee taste and aroma to come through while filtering out unwanted sediment, particles and oils. Melitta improved the Flavor Pores filter in 2002 by adding a second Safety Crimp for extra strength and durability. Bamboo Filters were introduced in 2007. Later that year, Melitta took Flavor Pores one step further and released new patented Flavor Enhancing Micro Perforations, which enhanced the filter process to allow for a richer cup of coffee." Wikipedia

I encourage everyone using a drip method coffee maker to brew with my favorite coffee with a premium coffee filter from Melitta. Made with natural, unbleached paper, these filters will bring out the rich flavor of your coffee. This pack contains 200 basket-style filters that fit most 8-12 cup coffeemakers.

Highly Recommended. prisrob 01-20-13

Perfect Pod Filters 2 Pack - 100 Total Filters

Perfect Pod Filters 2 Pack - 100 Total FiltersI bought the Senseo for the convenience of making just one cup of decaf when all around me are drinking from a pot of regular. Reviews were good, but the best commercial pods were mediocre at best, especially in decaf. My wife said "Why don't you make your own pods with good coffee?"

When I got the Perfect Pod device, I suddenly was able to pack very high quality coffees and pull 10 gram pod shots in the Senseo: 25 second brewing meant very high flavor (especially with premoistening the pod before brewing). The quality of the brew is comparable to a well-engineered espresso shot and preparation of the pods is an assembly-line operation.

The other critical factor in using the Perfect Pod is using the FoodSaver vacuum-packing device with their accessory canisters. I can make a week's supply of pods, write the name or initials of the coffee variety with pencil on the edge of the sealed pod before removing it from the Perfect Pod, and then repeatedly vacuum-pack the pods in the canister after each withdrawal.

I purchased a Senseo coffee maker, not realizing how expensive it would be to make coffee with the machine and its coffee pods. It was at least 50 cents a cup. The Senseo pods make just 4 ounces of coffee with each pod. It takes TWO pods to make an 8 ounce cup of decent coffee. I purchased the EcoPads which work very well, but require washing and drying between each use and it still required two EcoPads to make an 8 ounce cup. I found the Pod Maker and the Perfect Pod Filters and have been very happy with both. I can make enough pods for a month, use whatever coffee I like, and, best of all, have pods that make an 8 ounce cup of coffee with just one run of the Senseo. Great products and a great solution for the Senseo.

Perfect Pod Filters 3 Pack 120 Total Filters

I purchased a Bunn Commercial Coffee pod makerthe problem was my husband said he could never find great coffee in the pods. We were able to brew the perfect pod with his favorite coffee and with the bonus of the no mess clean up! At first we had difficulty with the filters, but we called the customer service number on the side of the box and the inventor/owner of the company was the person on the other end of the line. Talk about a helpful guy! One suggestion he had was to place the pod upside down and it worked. Also, my husband found the finer the grind on the coffee, the better the cup!

I've had (and loved) a Senseo for three years, and have used the Perfect Pod for two years. Up until now, it's been terrific for making any kind of pod I wanted. This month (November 2009), I ordered pod filters after being out of them since summer. I noticed immediately that they looked different. The filters I'd always gotten were paper-like and substantial, more like a regular coffee filters. These filters were very thin and had a fiberglass appearance. I attempted to prepare a pod according to manufacturers instructions, just as I always had, by filling the pod and pressing for three seconds. But this new pod was not even close to being sealed. So I pressed again. It seemed sealed, and I put it in my Senseo to make my coffee. After seeing the brew was very weak, I opened the Senseo to find that the pod had come apart and there were coffee grounds in my Senseo and coffee cup. I tried another pod, this time pressing at least 10 seconds. The pod held up through the brew, but fell apart upon removal. I don't know what the manufacturer has done to these pods, but they are not the same as they used to be.

UPDATE: I spoke with customer service, and the rep knew why I was calling before I told her. She said the manufacturer had used a different paper that required higher heat to seal, so they would send a replacement. I asked why they sent out the filters if they knew there was a problem with them. She said because "most" people didn't have problems with them. She said I could use an iron set on high to seal the defective filters (!?!).

Purchased these with the pod maker for my Senseo and love them! Thought I'd create my own filters, but these are neatly crimped and cut to fit, so found it worth the purchase. It's especially nice for creating tasty decaf pods.

NespressoC100 PianoBlack/Aerocc

NespressoC100 PianoBlack/AeroccThe Nespresso system is about as simple as coffee making gets you turn on the device until it heats up (about 30 seconds), put the pod into the holder, press GO and in 20 seconds or so you have the perfect espresso shot. There are variety of pod blends available, and the machine is capable of producing a shot so smooth it would rival any professional coffee house.

My own real criticism is the price this machine is expensive for something that essential boils and pumps water. But it is elegantly designed and has a small footprint and is guaranteed to become a conversation piece in your home or workplace. The second problem is that the pods themselves are expensive and can only be ordered directly from Nespresso. It's easy to create a $100-a-month coffee habit that's hard to justify in this economy, so I went back to my Mr Coffee maker after 3 months of Nespresso addiction.

But if you're in the market for pod-based espresso, I'd recommend this machine.

I just bought the bundle of the C100 with the milk frother, and I love it! It is SO easy to use! No mess, no packing grounds, no skill needed, it is so quick and absolutely delicious. Ordering the coffee packs online is super easy and arrives in 2 business days. The machine came with a 12-pack of flavors, and I like every single one of them. One shot of espresso costs $.55 each, so if you are a Starbucks addict like I was, it pays for itself in less than 2 months. I'm so happy that I can make a cappucino or latte anytime I want, at home, in two minutes and not pay $4 for it!

Tried this out (Cadillac unit) in England.... this is the basic unit, but inside the same except it does not froth milk and do all the extra stuff...it is just for espresso (or coffee).... tastes as good as the larger more expensive ones.......I've only had it a few months though and it is making lots of noise sometimes while brewing and is at times can be a little slower than usual...... having said that, overall it is the best out there especially for people who hate the mess of the grounds and cleanup, etc....it is as they say...it taste the same every time as the pods are vac-packed and it is so quick and easy....truly "plug and play".

After bringing our first baby home from the hospital, I thought my husband would appreciate the convinence of having espresso and lattes at home. I wasn't sure if we would like having to use the capsules, but they are so easy to use and order that it doesn't matter at all. It's especially great that there's no messy coffee grounds all over the kitchen! This espresso machine is by far the easiest coffee machine ever. Plus, the finished product tastes great. It's very small so it's easy to keep out on the counter. My husband uses this at least twice a day, and we would recommend it to anyone who wants quick, easy espresso.
