Hot Water Pot (3 Liters)

Hot Water PotI bought my unit at an Asian grocery called "99 Ranch", which had a very good price. The unit had notable defects (sometimes stopped boiling far before the boiling point; sometimes got an air bubble and couldn't keep pumping the water out), and it did NOT have a "lock/unlock" safety button although one was depicted in the manual. When it did work, it was very handy. It stopped working entirely after just two weeks.

I called the phone number printed right on the back on the machine, and the very courteous man on the phone immediately offered to send me a whole new one at their expense, and even pay for the return shipping on this one. The new one arrived promptly, but has already proven to have at least one defect (a loose hinge part).

It seems like you get a lot for your money, but the quality reminds me of General Motors circa 1975. Needs improvement.

I've had one of these hot water pots for several years now. All it does is boil up 3 liters of water and keep it hot all day, all night. I frequently plug mine in at 9 am and unplug it at 2 am. The water is always very hot. I use it to make instant coffee, tea, cocoa, and for 'starter' hot water to boil noodles & such faster. I also find that having hot water always to hand helps ensure I get plenty of fluids each day (particularly important with drying heat on in the winter).

The fuse did blow on mine a few months after I first got it. But the company quickly sent me another free of charge (pot was under warranty), and it was not difficult to install. You can also purchase fuses if you want extras. But, this happened only once to me in about 3-4 years of heavy daily use.

All in all, if you want a basic unit that will give you really hot water whenever you want, this pot is perfect. Much easier than constantly boiling up tea kettles (and probably more energy efficient).

I have had my hot water pot for about a year now and I love it! Being an avid tea and hot cocoa drinker I am always using it and probably end up refilling it about once every other day. I would recommend a larger size for families. I recently moved in with my boyfriends family and at first they were skeptical about using a hot water pot they claimed to like the charm of heating a pot of water over the stove everytime they wanted hot cocoa but I set up my hot water pot and now they are addicted. The poor water kettle has been sitting on the stove collecting dust for a few months now! The only bad thing I can think of is that you get hard water stains in the water dispenser. I am not sure if there is any way to get around this since the nature of the pot is that it boils off chloride, etc. I just rinse it out once in a while without any chemicals and it works perfect still. Anyways, I highly recommend a hot water pot.

This item was given to us second hand, it is the best thing ever for making baby bottles. (of course always check the temp to be sure it is not too hot for baby!) We put about an ounce of hot water to make an 8 ounce bottle mix the formula then add room temp water. Also great for making tea or cup of soup. We just love it, have been using it for about a month now and have had no problems and it was used previously for who knows how long. No problems with the pump or hinge or anything else works like a dream. Easy to clean too. And the cord comes out of the side of the pot so that it can sit flush up against the back of the kitchen counter minimizing the amount of space it takes up.

I got my first pot and it worked great for 3 weeks. Called manufacturer and they were very nice and sent me a new cord as they thought that was the problem when it completely stopped working...that was not the problem so they sent me another bottom and it went right to ready with no boiling....they sent me a third pot and it worked great for 3 days when it also stopped boiling and went right to ready. Great concept when it works...I'm now going to ask for a refund and try another brand.

Gaggia Platium Vision 90950 Automatic Espresso Machine with Free Milk Island, Champagne

Gaggia Platium Vision 90950 Automatic Espresso Machine with Free Milk Island, ChampagneI've owned semi automatic machines in the past and let me tell you, this machine certainly brews a better espresso than any of those machines ever did! Just to prove a point to my husband, I brewed him an espresso at home last night, then took him to our favorite cafe this morning and bought him one, and then I heard those beautiful words, "You were right." Music to my ears! So if you're looking for a tasty espresso, that requires no effort or thought what-so-ever, give this machine a whirl and you won't be sorry!

At first I turned on the machine, it started a espresso and turned off in the middle and I thought, the machine is bad. Then I realized that I did not have the plug in the back of the unit all the way in. Once I set the machine up and ran a couple drinks through to adjust it I knew this machine was good. The espresso looked very close to the best with proper crema, smell and color.

I have not tried the milk island because I have no room, It is probably cool but I do not see a need as the hand unit works excellent.

This machine is replacing a Saeco Syntia, all I can say is purchase the Gaggia Platinum, no comparison in drink quality. The Syntia is going back to the store it was purchased.

Next I steamed some milk by hand and made a Latte, excellent job, the taste was amazing.

Pros

1. Looks, very nice looking machine.

2. Makes excellent quality drinks.

3. Timers and displays are a snap to setup.

4. The quality of espresso will amaze you.

5. Lazy Susan base works perfect for access.

Cons

The steam nob on the side seems lose, this might be the way it is supposed to be I have nothing to compare it to.

I purchased this product and while it has a lot of nice features like touch screen, programability, motorized drip tray it definitely is lacking in quality. I used the espresso maker for a few days and then it decided to stop brewing coffee and instead leak water out of the inside of the machine. I had to mop up my kitchen counter and there is no way for you to get inside of the machine to see where the leak is coming from. I've owned 3 gaggia makers and one Jura Capresso and I would tell everyone that the Jura is definitely a better machine. My first gaggia completely stopped working after 3 years. My replacement gaggia stopped working in less than a month, but that was covered under warranty. I got a replacement which had to go in for repairs 3 months later for some rattling noise. Supposedly the interior mechanics was rubbing up against the exterior plastic. Well that depot repair lasted for a few months before it stated happening again. Unfortunately it cost me $40 to ship the coffee maker to the repair shop and another $40 for the return. And now this latest machine broke after a few days.

On the plus side when it worked it was great. It was easy to program, the touch screen was intuitive, brewed a HOT cup of coffee and the grinding was quieter than previous models.

If you want headaches and aggravation then buy Gaggia. If you want quality look at a Jura

In between the price went up almost $200 So if we still want one Amazon says it will be an additional $200 for the replacement.

KRUPS KM720D50 Programmable 12-Cup Coffee Maker with Glass Carafe and LCD screen, Stainless Steel

KRUPS KM720D50 Programmable 12-Cup Coffee Maker with Glass Carafe and LCD screen, Stainless SteelI ordered this coffee maker after I broke the carafe on my old Braun. It looks like Braun has gone out of business so I began looking for a new one. After spending hours looking over the reviews on all of the other coffee makers on Amazon and Consumers Reports, I took a chance on this one. It was amazing how many problems all of the other coffee makers seemed to have; from pumping hot coffee all over the floor and counter to some even catching on fire. I was very nervous about ordering this one because at the time it only had one review. I can safely say now that I am very happy with this one. The coffee is as good as my old Braun, the carafe seems thicker and sturdier than the Braun and it does what it is suppose to do; safely make good coffee, keep it in the pot and be easy to clean. This is a stylish looking unit after my research I believe it is the only one being made now that does all of this. Unless you get a bad one, and all companies will problems with some of their units, I think you will be happy with this one.

Well, I said I'd never get another Krups after the FME model I got 2 years ago made a great cup of burning plastic flavored coffee, but as you can see, I tried them again. This model isn't listed on Krups' website, and I only discovered this version by reading a review on another site. And if I remember correctly, none of my searches here on Amazon turned this one up until I typed in the exact model#. I tried a Cuisinart 1200, rated fairly highly here, and what it made was not coffee. So I gave this Krups a shot based on a 4.5 star rating. Yup this is the real thing. Good, rich, smooth, gourmet-flavored brew. All of you looking for a replacement for the Krups ProAroma 453 can find it here. The other good thing about this model is finally they put the clock display on top of the maker so you don't have to kneel on the floor to see what the display says. The bad is... the clock display, at least on mine, is fuzzy & unclear unless you go up on your tiptoes (hence my 4 rather than 5 star rating). I know, I just complain, complain, complain. Also good about this model is they finally put a bright red floating ball in the water level indicators (yes, there's now TWO of them so you can see from all angles!). All the buttons are up top & easy to figure out. You need to buy separately a #4 gold tone permanent filter. I like the top of the carafe well thought out. You open it by pressing your thumb down, which, unlike other Krups that attach on the lip-side, means you can partially open the lid while you're pouring. I had no problems with drips when pouring. Good job, Krups.

Here's an update after several days use. This appliance makes very smooth coffee, even when really strong. I found that adding a little extra grounds than usual makes for a mind-blowingly good brew. My wife said she could smell the power from across the room. I only say this so you know that stronger than usual may be better depending on your tastes. Also, the instructions say they advise not to make less than 4 cups coffee at a time. I agree. The ProAroma could handle one or two cups of water correctly but this one cannot. This Krups makes superb coffee when you make 4 or more cups, in fact I've learned to make 8 cups at a time, even tho' I only drink 2-3, because the flavor is so superior. I'm drinking a cup now & can't believe how incredibly good it is wow! I'm in coffee heaven.

I can now see one potential problem for the future. The carafe lid is held on by 2 nubbins that fit into slotted cutouts on the top of the carafe handle. Those nubbins & the slots are very small and I can see one of the 2 breaking off after a short time of use. In fact, I've already had the lid fall off all on its own. Both should have been larger so they would be stronger. The instructions warn you to turn off the maker when you pour the last cup. I know some folks, like my wife, think since it has an auto-off function, to just let it turn off on its own. That's a really bad idea. Not only can it de-temper an empty carafe & make it more likely to break spontaneously & splash scalding coffee all over you, it can set off the thermal overload switch located under the heating plate, which means your coffee maker is outta commission until repaired or replaced. Look at all the complaints under reviews of Krups machines burning out after less than a year. That's what happens if you leave it on when there's no coffee in the carafe. Turn it off when you're done so you'll have coffee tomorrow.

Here's one more update after having used this coffeemaker for a couple months. There is a flaw in the design of the filter housing, which is removable like with previous models of Krups machines. There's a spring-loaded valve on the bottom of the housing so you can, in theory, remove the pot while the machine is still making coffee without hot coffee spilling out from the filter area. Many coffeemakers do this so you can get a quick cup without waiting for the whole load of water to brew. The valve assembly is not designed well. The piston is held on by a small soft washer that has a tendency to disconnect when simply removing or replacing the carafe & the whole assembly falls apart. Also, the valve stem doesn't fit snugly in its channel so it makes a significant side to side movement when replacing the carafe. That results in the tip of the valve, where the coffee comes out, to land on the wrong part of the carafe lid & spill over the outside of the carafe. Krups states in the directions that failing to carefully place the carafe will result in spills, implying that it's a problem. It is a problem. Just about every other potful leaks and it's really frustrating. If they can just fix this valve problem... I'm really tempted to remove the assembly completely, which would assure the hot coffee comes out straight down where it needs to. But the coffee quality is excellent, and that, my friends, is more important than anything else in my book & I'll put up with some flaws for the perfect taste.

The taste of the coffee from this machine when put on the "Aroma" setting is outstanding. I was wanting a replacement for an older Krups machine. It has good tasting coffee too, but this particular model has made my coffee drinking experience brand new. I have had comments from others saying "This coffee sure is good!". I do not go to any special lengths to make my coffee either. The Krups brand in my opinion is hard to beat.

My old Cuisinart DCC-1200 Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Black/Brushed Metal died so needed a replacement in my office. This is a great quality product from Krups. It's fast, convenient, and easy to clean. It keeps the coffee hot and fresh. Highly recommended.

Love this coffee maker, just wished it beeped when done brewing. Can't say for sure that the 'aroma' feature makes that big of a difference. I love strong coffee so I still use a good 1 cup of grounds for only 5 cups brewed using dark coffee beans. Other than that this Krups sits real pretty on the counter. Also no dreaded drips when pouring. The carafe has no plastic on the rim. Keeping my fingers crossed that it lasts longer than a year or two.

New 20 oz Espresso Coffee Milk Frothing Pitcher, Stainless Steel, 18/8 gauge

New 20 oz Espresso Coffee Milk Frothing Pitcher, Stainless Steel, 18/8 gaugeDon't buy a frothing pitcher that doesn't have a pour spout! We love this pitcher and it pours without making a mess. 20oz is full to the top, so when making large lattes for two we usually end-up doing a pitcher and a half. If you regularly brew two large lattes, you might want a 32oz pitcher.

I am using this to froth about 6 oz of milk for two cappuccinos, and it is just the right size. After frothing the foam rises to about 2/3 3/4 of the pitcher volume, so one pours at a comfortable starting angle without spilling a drop. The pronounced spout is also helpful in this respect. This pitcher is very easy to clean and looks great beside our stainless espresso machine.

This is a very strong pitcher. Thick steel. The handle is spot welded with 3 weld at the top of handel and 3 at the bottom. Expect it to last. The spout is tapered at the tip and pours very precisely.

I own an espresso machine and bought this pitcher to steam milk for my lattes. This is the perfect size for one medium-large latte and it helps heat the milk much faster than a ceramic mug. I almost bought the 12oz pitcher, and am so glad I decided to purchase the 20oz. I love this pitcher, it's made of quality material and it's a little heavy so you know it's durable. I would highly recommend this.

Of course one must get the hang of steaming and foaming milk, and this is the perfect container to do so. I don't know how I went so long without this product for my cappucino maker. Excellent size and quality.

Rapid Brew Stainless Steel Stovetop Coffee Percolator, 2-12 cup

Rapid Brew Stainless Steel Stovetop Coffee Percolator, 2-12 cupOur recent week-long power outage due to the recent tornado outbreak in Alabama served to reintroduce me to the joy and depth of flavor that is percolated coffee. The percolator that I used during that week was an old aluminum model. I wasn't too thrilled with cooking anything in an aluminum vessel and I wanted a larger capacity percolator so the hunt was on.

I was looking for a percolator that is durable, produces a relatively large volume of coffee and looks attractive on the counter. Another requirement that was highest on my list was that my new percolator must be manufactured in the USA. This requirement is motivated by my concerns about product safety, manufacturing standards and my family's health. Let's start by looking at the percolator, then I'll tell you more about where it's made.

The Percolator:

After it arrived I took it apart to wash it prior to use and noticed immediately that the finish on the inside of this percolator was rough and poorly finished.

I liked the way the filter basket fit so snugly into the unit. That should prevent any stray grounds from making their way into the coffee. I loved the 12 cup capacity.

The lid is permanently attached to the pot and I believe the logic behind this is that as you tip the pot to pour a cup, this design should prevent the lid from tilting forward and falling off. Unfortunately it just doesn't work out that way since the rim of the lid is too shallow to really "hold on" while the pot is being tilted and the fit of the lid isn't quite tight enough to prevent this issue. When pouring, the filter basket inside falls forward and the result is that the lid tends to push itself partially out of the pot. Why permanently attach the lid if it does not hold the lid on while pouring? The fact that the lid is permanently attached leads one to assume that the lid is securely affixed but do use caution to avoid being burned.

Cosmetically, this percolator looks great and the outside finish is attractive.

Country of Origin:

Prior to purchasing this product I searched the web and compared various percolators, eventually settling on this one. I'll note here that I didn't settle on this one because it is advertised as being a USA product. Unfortunately, Amazon (along with most online retailers) simply chooses not to answer consumer demand when it comes to disclosing product origin in item descriptions. So, I was left to hunt around the web and try to determine product origin on my own and after many searches, I felt confident that I had done just that. It seemed that this product was indeed manufactured in the good old U.S. of A.

When I decided to throw the packaging in the garbage I noticed a tiny silver sticker on the flap of the box. I put my glasses on so that I could read the even tinier print on the label and was dismayed to see this: "Made in China."

Rationale Behind my Rating:

This product loses one star due to the fact that having a lid that doesn't fall forward or fall off seems like it ought to be a pretty common sense and basic part of product design when the product is one that will be used when serving scalding hot liquids.

This product loses a second star because I think at this price point the interior stainless finish should be smooth and should appear to be as professionally finished as the exterior of this product seems to be. And I think the rough finish is eventually going to become stained and be difficult to clean. (I don't expect the same mirror finish on the interior as is on the exterior but it should be smooth and free of blemishes, nicks, etc.)

And finally, I'm knocking off a third star due to the fact that while the product description states that this percolator is stainless and the price reflects that, I was disappointed to discover that magnets stick to this percolator. That means two things: (1) the stainless used in the manufacture of this product is of poor quality and (2) it's unlikely that this product is resistant to rust, which seems ironic given the fact that rust resistance is one of the most important qualities of stainless steel.

My rating does not reflect the fact that this product is manufactured in China but I am informing you of this fact so that you have all of the information that you need in order to make a fully informed purchase.

This is the replacement coffee "maker" that I bought. The last 3 Cuisinart coffee makers I have had were poorly made and I am tired of having to send a coffee maker to the landfill every year. I'm done with that.

My husband grew up with the old style percolator that you use on the stove top. I thought that it was worth trying and I am so glad I did. The coffee tastes better and I gained some counter top space back. I now display some nice colorful cups where the old coffee station was and the percolator only leaves the stove if I need all the burners for something else.

The only thing that the drip coffee maker has over the percolator is it is a little faster, also the percolator does not have a keypad to remember to brew for you on time, another thing to stop working. The low tech percolator will last years and takes no more time to prep or clean than the Cuisinart.

I like the looks of the stainless percolator. Bottom line I am not ever going to buy another drip machine, to me it's just a ticking time bomb on when it's going to quit and the world has enough garbage clogging the landfills. Sorry Cuisinart you used to be such a good brand.

When the last Cuisinart died I could not wait for shipping so had to find one local. It actually looks nicer than the picture in the listing. I have made about 25-30 brews with it and have had no issues with the glass part on the top getting loose.

I love the smell of the coffee when it is percolating and it is worth the 15 minute wait to have such a great tasting cup of coffee.

I have nothing negative to say about the Rapid Brew 2-12 cup model, it is excellent. I'm only sorry I didn't buy one sooner.

I believe that the colors, style, size and shape options available between new and vintage percolators would allow anyone to find just the one that would make great coffee and fit their personal style.

If you have mineral tap water that repeatedly ruins automatic coffee brewers, then try a stove top pot. We purchased one of these from another vendor for over $50 a few years ago and we're still using it daily. I don't see any reason to remove the lid like another reviewer said and the steel has no dings or warps at all after much use. When I saw that Amazon had one at this price I decided to buy another to keep for backup. We set the stove timer to signal in 10 12 minutes then turn down the control from high to low. It's easy to control the intensity and temperature of the coffee and the brewing basket is large, providing good water flow. This is a big improvement over the inconsistent results we got with automatic brewers and it doesn't get stopped up with mineral deposits.

This percolator is the best. Nothing fancy, but durable and useful. I especially like the hinged top with glass percolator 'dome'. I'd recommend this over any electric coffee maker or electric percolator. Stick to the basics. Great coffee.

Want Rapid Brew Stainless Steel Stovetop Coffee Percolator, 2-12 cup Discount?

If you have hard water and your electric coffee makers are constantly being destroyed by it, then this is the perfect coffee maker for you. This percolator makes an excellent pot of coffee time after time. Because all parts are removable, cleaning keeps the buildup from happening the way it does in your electric coffee pots. The downsides are few, but there are some. It does take a little longer to brew a pot of coffee. If you grind your own coffee beans the grind needs to be a little more coarse and the amount of coffee per pot tends to be a little more than for electric coffee pots. We have already had to purchase a glass top replacement but would still invest in this product again. If you like fresh HOT coffee, then this is a great purchase to consider.
