Medelco 4 Cup Universal Glass Espresso Replacement Carafe, Black

Medelco 4 Cup Universal Glass Espresso Replacement Carafe, BlackOver the years, I've had to replace the glass carafe that came with my Krups espresso maker several times. I was thrilled when I found this generic carafe because it's made of heavier glass and costs about half as much. Now if someone would only come out with a replacement lid! (Krups lids are just as flimsy as their carafes -the tabs that are supposed to hold the lid to the carafe snap off with the slightest touch.)

Bottom line -if you need to replace your Krups carafe, get this Medelco one instead and save up for a better machine.

Thanks to the "Better than original" review and others. I agree with the reviewer: "thicker and heavier than the original, and half price of the other". No lid is included, so I reuse the lid, which I have. The lids fits the carafes fine. I have two lids and two carafes: one lightly tight, and one lightly loose. The lid forces coffee to going directly to the carafe (no coffee splashing).

I ordered two carafes because shipping is almost as much as the cost of one carafe; shipping cost of two carafes is the same as one carafe's. The glass looks clear, high quality, and better than Amazon's picture. Amazon's picture shows some greenish of the glass (low quality glass). Shipping speed is fairly good.

Here is my two cents. After washing, I put the carafe on a paper towel and in my coffee maker (reducing the risk of hitting something hard), not together with dishes anymore. I avoid to put the carafe near by anything hard (i.e. dishes, other mugs, cups, etc.). In ten years, my wife broke two carafes; I broke one.

Highly recommended.

The good:

It's an espresso carafe!

Good, standard replacement

The not so good:

White handle, not black

Having broken the carafe to my espresso machine, natch, I endured for a long time with a makeshift pitcher. I finally got tired of having to estimate the water amount and decided to treat myself to a replacement. It's nice to have the lines on the side again; I feel more legit making my espresso now.

I deduct one star for cost. While it is not as expensive as other replacements, I ask myself why it costs as much as it does. It's not precision equipment, it's a freakin' carafe. Oh well. It certainly measures up to what it should be, there are no defects, and I can't find one for cheaper. I suspect that if Ikea set their minds to the problem, they'd have their Swedish elves somehow churn them out for two bucks a pop. Maybe by the next time I break an espresso carafe, which I see in the near future...

Anyway, it's fine, but mine came with had a white handle! It's the seller's fault and not a fault of the product itself, but... since they're the main seller for this product on Amazon, I thought it was worth noting in my review. It really wasn't a big enough deal for me to actually do anything about it, though.

Also, it didn't come with a lid, which my old one had. Is that normal? Is it just me? Again, I'm just happy to have it when I know I could really just be using a coffee mug.

It wasn't broken, either, but I have never had anything come broken that I've ordered on Amazon.

I really am happy I purchased this carafe. The previous one I had, I stole from a hand-me-down espresso maker. I was delighted to finally replace my cracked carafe, and that this one had a solid and substantial handle.

I bought this carafe as a replacement for my broken Mr. Coffee carafe that came with my espresso machine. This carafe fits nicely with my Mr. Coffee espresso machine (ECM10). Even the lid from my old carafe fits this one. Handle of this carafe is smaller than the old one. Nevertheless, cannot complain for the price and free shipping with Amazon prime.

Lello 45920 Ariete Cafe Roma Deluxe Espresso/Cappuccino Maker with Built-In Coffee Grinder

Lello 45920 Ariete Cafe Roma Deluxe Espresso/Cappuccino Maker with Built-In Coffee GrinderI have owned two previous versions of Krup expresso makers which I used till they died. I wanted something different this time and was not happy with the current selection of the krups expresso line up. I am in love with this machine. This expresso machine produces some of the best creme(froth)on an expresso (at home)I have ever seen. The froth wand is fabulous because not only is it easy to clean it produces great milk froth for cappuccino's. My only complaint is that the two attachments for the grinder do not have a button but you must snap in the pieces and if you are not careful you can easily damage the attachment. The grinder is great if you like to buy your beans whole and grind yourself. I highly recommend this machine for people who like great expresso and do it yourself cappuccinos.

I love to make my own latte or capuccino because I know it beats going to Starbuks in many ways. So we puchase this product about 4 months ago and we are not impressed at all. The gridnder is very inconvenient to keep it locked in place and there is no way of telling how much is enough for one or two espresso cups. But worst of all the plastic wand broke off few days ago and we can't re-attach it because the thread is bad. We are now frothing without the wand and we don't know how and where to get replacement. We were looking for the best espresso machine but we are now on the verge of dissapointment.

It works great. I just wish the base was a little larger. This would give a larger work space, a place to set the milk as it was steaming, keep the counter area around the machine cleaner and make it all around easyer to clean, use and operate.

Well, after having the machine for almost two months, it now leaks water and steam everywhere. Try to get it fixed!!! Forget it. No one will work on it, because they can't get parts for it. Warranty is a joke, as there is no place to send it. A big waste of money.

Thus far the machine has exceeded expectations, turning out three cappuccinos, two macchiatos and several pulls of espresso for the office. Machine seems to heat quickly, produces excellent micro-froth from milk, grinds good (to my novice judgement) espresso grind coffee and creates excellent crema. The odd-looking filter holder is pretty weighty and has some sort of pressurization system that they claim helps produce good-quality crema. Thus far, based upon results alone, I'm forced to agree. Bravo, Ariete!

Primula 4 Cup Classic Coffee Press, Chrome

Primula 4 Cup Classic Coffee Press, ChromeThe definition of 4 cups is simply wrong. I know companies like Bodum Presses define a cup as 4 oz but this company for some unknown reason defines a cup as 3 oz. Bottom line is this is a 14 oz container which will hold 12oz of liquid + coffee grinds so it will make only a single 12oz mug of coffee and not a drop more. If that is what you are after then read on.

Aside from the glass beaker, the materials are on the cheap side compared to a Bodum, but a Bodum will cost about 2x as much for the same size making this a 'relatively' good value for the price.

Bottom line, good relative value as price is low and materials are acceptably cheap and know this will in no way make 4 cups of coffee. I was deceived by the 4 cup description but fortunately 12 ounces was exactly what I needed so it works for me.

For those new to the French Press thing know that many people, myself included, consider this the absolute best way to make coffee. One of the differences is that the coffee oils are not absorbed by a paper filter adding to the taste but it is more than that. Making a great cup of French/Pot Press coffee is simple but really requires knowing what you are doing and that takes practice. 1) It all starts with the beans know that the subtle nuances of flavor are very apparent with this brewing method so it is easy to taste the difference in the beans it's not like Coke vs Pepsi the difference can be extreme between beans. I tested many different types of beans over months to find the ones that I enjoyed most. One of my favorites is Starbucks French Roast which tastes totally different than Peaks French Roast which I don't care for but that is about personal taste, not quality of products. I also prefer Starbucks Sumatra more than Peats but again, just personal preference. Differences are huge to my palette. 2) Beans for this method must be coarse, medium grind is for drip while fine grind is for expresso, and ultra fine is for Turkish. The wrong size bean will change the flavor very noticeably. 3) Ideally it is best to grind your beans just before brewing for the best freshest taste so you will need a Burr grinder, NOT a blade grinder which will not let you control grind size 4) Next is water, you want to use only clean, filtered water same with all brewing methods. Tap water, at least from my kitchen is horrible. 5) Boil the water in a kettle and then let it cool for at least 10-20 seconds. Too hot will burn the coffee and give it a bitter taste. I usually pour some of the boiled water in my mug first as that will warm up the mug while the coffee is brewing, so when your coffee is ready it will stay warm. 6) Steep time. Start with about 4 minutes that what works for me. Too long and bitterness will creep in. Too short and it will taste diluted. Remember you are using a coarse grind so less surface are which is why steep times are longer. Finer grinds extract quicker so brew time and grind size are very much related. 7) Experiment with all the above variables until you find what works for you. Varying any of the above will change the taste. Making the perfect cup of coffee is both an art and a science 8) Enjoy. You may find that with many type of beans that the flavor will change with each sip since as it cools the flavor changes. Anyway, that's my trick!!!

This does the job fine and the price was right. It makes about 13 oz. of coffee. All these presses are described as making x number of "cups" which are presumed to be 4 oz. cups for some incomprehensible reason. However, once you account for the space the grounds take up and a little air space at the top, the capacity is even less than that. Therefore, a 4-cup press is needed to make a largish mug. The 3-cup press I tried first yielded only 10 oz.

I have been using a French Press for a few years now and it makes as espresso style of coffee which measures smaller than an American cup of coffee. I like my coffee strong and a small container like this makes it just right for my one cup, you can't beat a french press for a wonderful cup of coffee, you adjust the amount of coffee to how strong you like it and if you add milk or not. It's helpful to look up directions for this online before buying, you can better judge if it's for you and how big a pot to get. You get coffee grounds in your drink if you don't grind the coffee course enough or the filter is not kept straightened out allowing grounds to escape the filter. I'm looking for another one since I have worn my first one out after 5 + years.

Use it everyday, the mesh filter is nice and fine so hardly no grounds come through, as long as you grind your beans using french press mode.

We bought this for my brother-in-law for Christmas and he uses it all the time! It's the perfect size for one mug of coffee. It says it's 4 cups, but I'm pretty sure that describes the entire volume. You have to account for the space the coffee grounds take up. Like I said, perfect for a single serving in a standard mug!
