Exclusive Emerson CCM901 Programmable Combination Coffee Espresso and Cappuccino By EMERSON

Exclusive Emerson CCM901 Programmable Combination Coffee Espresso and Cappuccino By EMERSONThis coffee maker has some really smart features. It's a very heavy, solid unit. The top panel is vented so as the coffee is brewing, it can vent itself and the lid stays flat. It makes a great cup of coffee. I use one scoop per cup and it seems to be a good strength. I have to admit, I'm not very good at using the expresso maker. The steamer is pretty easy to operate but I still need to practice with making latte's and expresso. I don't know how much water and expresso coffee to use to make good cup yet. I was concerned with the seller in that my instructions weren't inside the box. I called and they mailed them out very quickly but I wondered why they were taken out in the first place. Why would you open a brand new box and remove anything? Why open the box and remove the instructions? That was strange. I'm hoping it was really new and not refurbished.

This was a gift for my mother. No matter how many time she tried to get it yo work it didn't. Sent it back.

My advice is to never buy items of this type on Amazon. You end up with return shipping fees, plus I paid an exorbitant shipping fee when I first ordered this thing. It has been weeks and still no refund from Discount Jungle. All together I have nearly $50 tied up in fees on a unit I was only supposed to pay $39 for. The thing did not work after a couple of days. I sent it back and the return unit leaked water. Discount Jungle said I would have to return it to the manufacturer if I want it fixed. Do not buy coffee makers over the internet. Go to Sears. The one I had I purchased from Sears 2 years ago and if I had simply pulled my service contract I paid $6 for I could have returned it and got a new one from Sears. Instead I screwed around and bought this one. I went back to Sears and bought another just like the one I had for $40 plus $6 for a return contract. Ione thing I will not forget this and will take my Sears unit back if it stops working.

Major design disaster unless you want to hear a LOUD sucking sound go on and on and on! The instruction booklet was used in both the first one and the replacement one. Wished I had demanded a refund but I let them send me a second one. Big mistake because it would cost me twice what I paid for the item to ship it back. Probably will give it to Goodwill.

Espressione CA4865 Supremma Super-Automatic Coffee/Beverage Center

Espressione CA4865 Supremma Super-Automatic Coffee/Beverage CenterAfter almost a month and a second try, I give up.

There are some pros, though, and it would be unfair not to mention them ...

Nice design, very attractive.

The coffee is not bad at all.

And, the customer support very competent and knowledgeable.

But ...

The machine seems to have a mind of its own.

The first one didn't work at all. I called customer support, but more to accomplish a formality ... When you pay $1,000.00 for a product, the last thing you expect is to have to spend the first day trying to make it work.

But I decided to give it another try.

The second one started just fine. User friendly, great coffee, stylish (looks great on the counter)...

After a couple of weeks, the output became inconsistent (some shots not even enough to fill a tablespoon). Resetting the amount of water didn't help. Customer service suggested that I avoid using the fine grind settings ... in other words: avoid certain settings, you may mess-up the machine. Well, this is not what I was expecting from a $1,000.00 machine.

At the same time, the brewing group started spilling the ground coffee all over the brewing compartment, without apparent reason (and, therefore, no way to fix it). Cleaning became a hassle.

The bottom line is ... not worth $1,000.00. This is the reason for the single star.

Purchased in June 2010. Went through a pound of coffee and contact with customer service just to get it operating correctly. Very tempermental. Requires constant cleaning, and need to adjust grind with every coffee purchase to minimize either clogging or grounds in base of unit. After eight months, the computer board fried. Sent it in under warranty. After return, worked better, but certain functions like cups made and adjusting grind period, no longer available. After another six months, the power board fried. Estimate is another $200 for repair plus shipping. Presently sitting on counter as decoration because it looks great. Should be more robust internally considering the initial price. Limited repair facilities available. Deciding whether to spend another $260 for repair plus shipping, or cut losses by buying cappucino at local barista. With only one year warranty and DIY manuals unavailable, appears there is an exclusive stream of income through constant repair and service. What do you think?

Purchased this as a Christmas present for my wife who happens to love all things coffee. I figured a high-end, touch-screen coffee machine was the perfect gift, and it was, until it stopped working. Less than a full month into use this $900 coffee maker has begun to leak and won't even brew a cup as the equipment states there is an error. I gathered there was an error when water started to spew out the rear of the device, but there is no fix in sight and I already have been forced to take it into a repair shop. But at least the cool blue light on the side of the machine still works. Maybe the light was just foreshadowing how blue I'd get once I learned how much money I'd lost on such a shoty product.

We've used this machine at our home overseas in 220-240V version for over four years and have found it to be flawless in performance, effortless in programming and use, so uncomplicated to use that we had this in a orthodontists office where adults and children alike used the machine. Purchased the 110-120V version and am delighted with performance (seems to be some improvements over orignal model we own) Creates an excellent crema at the perfect temperature when pulling a shot(s) of espresso or an americano. Preinfusion feature insures great results. Plenty of powerful, dry steam for frothing milk. A breeze to use the cappucinador by placing line into milk jug or container, frothing milk directly into the cup. Touch screen panel gives clear and straightfoward commands. Audible bell tone advises if there is an item not in place, not enough water or dump bin needs to be cleaned. Generally I make between 18-22 coffees before needing to remove and clean the dump bin. Pleasant cobalt blue power switch and cobalt blue light that illuminates the large water tank. Grinder adjustment is very easy. customer service taught me a trick where you can "increase the grind time" thus receiving optimum results from a hard or heavily roasted coffee bean. This gave us the capability of achieving a sold coffee cake or puck after each coffee. We owned another brand here in america and it was difficult to remove the brewing group (a key was required). This one extremely easy to remove for cleaning with one turn of a clip and one knob that you unscrew. All in all we view this machine as outstanding and our thrilled that we can recommend our friends to buy it on Amazon. Although the water reservoir and bean container is larger than a unit that we used from Switzerland, I'm going to contact the maker to see if it's possible to get even a larger water reservoir and a larger bean container.

Originally I had high hopes for this fancy looking coffee/espresso machine. Being paranoid about setting up the machine correctly, I reviewed all of the poorly translated directions carefully.

Pros:

* Fancy design, automatic, decent water reservoir, easy to use point and touch selections

Cons:

* Produced severely watered down coffee even with fine grind setting and strong coffee setting.

* Even after several tests and inspecting the internal parts and brew group, non-drinkable coffee was produced.

* Significant amounts of water produced in the drip tray every time (not due to cup misplacement, apparently an internal function of this machine)

* After several more tests (10 cups), the machine internals were extremely clogged. This is most likely due to using the fine grind setting however all of that great coffee was inside the machine and not in my coffee cup.

If you are looking for an over-priced water cooker to clean often, this is your ticket. Otherwise, pass!

BUNN My Cafe AP Auto Eject Pod Brewer

BUNN My Cafe AP Auto Eject Pod BrewerI've been a coffee pod advocate for years have had the Bunn MCP in my home for about five of those years. It's flawless, never broke, brews delicious coffee. My Bunn is also "hard lined" to the plumbing behind my fridge so I always get fresh cold water and never have to pour over the top. This was insanely simple to do and I'm not sure why more people don't do it. All you need to do is get the right adapters from your local plumbing or hardware store and create a "Y" in the 1/4" line that feeds water to your refrigerator. Then route the newly split line over to your coffee machine. Since most refrigerators are set inside a little cubby hole these days, I just drilled a 1/4" hole in the side of the cubby hole and put my coffee machine right next to the fridge (you can't see the hole any longer). Contact me if you have have questions about what type of adapter to buy in all you'll spend $5-$10 dollars completing this little task. Well worth it for never having to fill up a coffee machine tank ever again.

Back to the story....

My Bunn MCP is awesome but folks have a tendency to leave spent pods in the tray (yuck) and you need to clean the machine (decalcify as simple as 'brewing' a cup with vinegar instead of water) but the machine is analog in how it dispenses water so you don't really know you need to decalcify the machine until you notice that 7oz of coffee is starting to look like a lot less than that. So I went on the search for the next evolution in coffee pod brewing technology.

Let's just say you get what you pay for. The My Cafe AP is gorgeous and melts right in with all the other stainless appliances like the fridge, microwave, et al. In five years, Bunn has really stepped up their game. First off, the AP has an internal digital pour meter so it actually senses how much water has flowed into your cup, as opposed to the old analog style which was just leaving the solenoid open for some period of time, like 15 seconds or whatever. The AP actually shows this on its LCD display too so you can see how some pods that are packed more tightly than others might brew more slowly or absorb more of the initial water stream, but still end up brewing the same amount of joe. The AP also has a handy auto-eject feature so spent pods are simply discarded in the internal trash can you can put a tiny little trash can liner in here if you want, but I don't. Best of all, it's also plumbed like my original MCP, so I could literally reuse the exact same hook up as previous. This unit went from box to usable in under 5 minutes.

I also like all the features available in the LCD although it's not intuitive my looking at the LCD. You need the manual for this one. It's almost as if the CPU is full of Easter Eggs, like locking the display, changing the amount of water dispensed through "small" versus "large" cup, etc. But out-of-the-box none of this is necessary. If you like to fill your travel mugs every morning, you might however want to turn stock "small" into stock "large" and stock "large" into 10oz, instead of whatever the default is set at, I think it's 7 or 8oz.

Anyhow, it's by far the most expensive coffee machine I've ever bought, or that anyone's ever bought for their home that doesn't brew espresso. But if you're sick and tired of waiting for an entire pot to brew, just to waste half of it, or need another pot, or whatever, this is the coffee machine for you. Brew as much as you want, one pod at a time, and please for god sake live in the 21st century and plumb it into your fridge like a normal person.

PS When it comes to which coffee pods to buy, all I can say is that you need to do a taste test. Nearly all of the mass producers I've tried make the worst 'regular' coffee, but the best flavored coffee. Whereas the opposite is true from the non-coporate small-business vendors they make the best regular coffee and worst flavored coffee. So in my case, I get my Guatemala and Paris French Roast online from a small boutique coffee pod producer. But I get my Hazelnut online from Amazon from one of the bigger companies.

CHEERS!
