Porcelain #4 Coffee Dripper / Filter Cone Plus a Box of 100ct. #4 Coffee Filters

Porcelain #4 Coffee Dripper / Filter Cone Plus a Box of 100ct. #4 Coffee FiltersThe filter holder replaces a plastic item that suffered in the dishwasher. This cleans OK (no stains, so far). It fits my carafe, but the carafe lip is angled, and I worry about it getting unbalanced.

Price was reasonable; not that much more than a new plastic holder. It was well packed and arrived on time.

I really like this ceramic cone compared to the plastic ones I've owned in the past. Obviously, it works perfectly with zero moving parts. It's well designed to sit on top of every pot & mug I own.

HOWEVER, with this grim news about melamine dinnerware [leaches very toxic stuff into hot food] I'm wondering about this cone, as it's obviously made in China, where they put melamine into everything [remember the babyfood scandal ?] and what they put into ceramics, who knows ?

If Amazon or anyone else has any info on this question, please respond.

Cafe and Tracanzan 12 Cup Espresso Coffeemaker Replacement Gasket

Cafe and Tracanzan 12 Cup Espresso Coffeemaker Replacement GasketBought for my 12 cup Bialetti Espresso maker. It's not a perfect fit, but will work just fine, once you screw the two bialetti parts together. For $5 bucks...it works fine. Probably will just go with an OEM gasket next time...but can't complain for $5

Hario Coffee Dripper V60 02 Clear

Hario Coffee Dripper V60 02 ClearIf you are a serious coffee enthusiast this is a great option for making coffee at a relatively low price. Good for the cost conscious budding "coffee snob" or as an alternative to a truly good coffee machine such as a Technivorm (which cost $~300).

If like me you are a super serious enthusiast with a large collection of coffee equipment this makes a great addition.

What this is not, however, is not a no-brainer coffee brewer.

There is a short but steep learning curve to achieving the potential of this product. There are hundreds of youtube videos which can instruct you on the various techniques, so you won't be without hints & tips. However you will want to probably buy a new water kettle as using this correctly requires very good water/pouring control; of course Hario sells an excellent one.

The key elements of the coffee product, once you've mastered the technique, are clarity (as it uses a paper filter) and excellent control of the extraction so you can play with the coffee in an effort to achieve what you believe to be the "ultimate" product from it.

This is not, however, a quick & easy method. It takes several minutes of actual concentration and effort to produce just a few cups of coffee. By contrast espresso takes only one minute, a press pot takes several minutes but only 30 seconds of activity, a coffee machine obviously requires almost no effort. It is quicker than a vacuum/siphon pot but only marginally so.

It also requires very good coffee beans. With mediocre coffee it can magnify the negatives. Counter Culture, Intelligentsia, or even Peet's (fresh roasted, not from the super market) are all good options. However in my experience not just any good coffee is a good match for this method. Some of my favorite blends taste sort of crappy with this no matter what I try, whereas some single source coffee's practically sing with joy when made with the Hario.

This isn't by any means the "best" method of making coffee (there isn't a true "best"). It is, IMO, in the top four.

We use it in an office with poor access to running water. Given this, filters, an electric kettle, and ground coffee, we are good to go. Pour-over gives you nearly all of the quality of french press without the clean up and fuss. The downside is that you're making one cup at a time, but that's the issue with Keurig systems, Jura machines, etc.

If you're looking for a simple drip coffee maker, this is a great choice. A french press still makes better coffee, but this one is simple to use and clean. You can drip directly into a mug, or into a suitable pot or carafe (I've used a small glass pot, for example). I'm considering getting the matching Hario server.

The plastic cone is very well made, from a hard clear plastic. Appears sturdy enough to last for a long time in normal use.

I used the basic #2 coffee filters from Trader Joe's, they work fine, don't break or have any other problems. So I think you can just use any good quality filters, don't have to order the Hario filters (which are much more expensive), unless you really want to.

I'm very happy with the plastic hario cone for making pour overs. I didn't feel like getting the expensive ceramic one (and then fearing breaking it) but I needed an improvement over the cheap melitta ones, which aren't designed as well and don't allow enough coffee flow out causing over extraction. This did the job. You do have to get Hario's filters as well, though; the regular ones won't work very well or will break in the middle of a pourover!

At home I usually use a Bee House ceramic cone, but I wanted a plastic one for travel. Having been curious about Hario drippers, I ordered this one. My first cup was a disaster--like bad diner coffee--and I was concerned this would only work with the Hario pouring kettle, which wouldn't be an option in a hotel room. I over pack, but that's beyond even me. After watching some instructional videos and being patient and careful, and getting an optimal grind, and using a good amount of coffee, I've managed an excellent cup using my regular water kettle. So, I'm confident this will be a joy on the road. It's certainly lovely to look at.

Oggi EZ Grip Decaf Canister, White

Oggi EZ Grip Decaf Canister, WhiteI purchased both the regular and decaf canisters. The white one looked like one of my children had made it. The word "DECAF" was missing part of the letter "D" and someone had tried to use black paint to cover it up when manufactured. Also, a nice size spot of black paint was on the handle, under the glaze. Scoop is very cheap looking. The word "DECAF" on my canister was not centered like the one in the picture, but all of the way to the left. It just looks so tacky. I don't recommend buying either of these.

It's a beautiful canister. The clasp seems flimsy but it does seal nice and tightly. My canister arrived without a spoon. I contacted Amazon who had me contact the manufacturer. I chatted with a very sympathetic young lady who assured me a new spoon would arrive shortly. I'm still waiting and it's been a month....looks like I'm placing another long distance phone call. Hence, 3 stars.

I bought this with the "regular" one which i found on Amazon from another seller. both have the same Oggi" sticker from the manufacturer so I assumed they were the same other than color (and the words decaf and regular), but when they came i noticed the decaf canister is smaller. Not another size canister, but rather just a tad smaller as if manufactured in a different place where measurements were a bit off. It is noticeable enough to annoy me but overall i like both canisters so i did not bother to return. As already mentioned by others, you can't empty a whole bag of coffee in, i feel this is a pretty serious flaw so only two stars. So, for the price, they are okay until i come across something better..

First, while the inside is not quite big enough to hold a full pound of coffee, this canister is very large outside. This is due to the handle design. So don't be fooled into thinking this is a small canister that won't take up much space on your counter.

Next, the decal is obviously put on by hand by someone who is not concerned with getting the letters straight or even. The word decaf was sloped to the point where the bottom of the F actually curled a bit around the bottom edge of the canister, but the D was more than 1/8" above the bottom edge.

Last, there is a rubber seal which helps the canister close tightly. Unfortunately, the closing mechanism is very flimsy. I bought this one as a set with the black TEA canister and the clasps are exactly the same and the TEA one (which gets used more often) has already broken and come apart and I've had them only about two weeks. Needless to say, they are going back.

I do NOT recommend buying this or the black TEA canister. Not only are they not worth the money, they aren't worth ANY amount. They look good in the picture, but they won't look good on your counter and they won't work the way they should.

West Bend 58002 12-42 Cup Automatic Party Perk Coffee Urn

West Bend 58002 12-42 Cup Automatic Party Perk Coffee UrnI am pretty particular about coffee. I like to gind my own beans and have never used a perc coffee pot in the past. But we were having a huge family gathering and I needed a lot of coffee.

I ordered this Party Perk machine and when it came in I almost returned it because it seemed so flimsy, but I figured I'd give it a chance.

I'm glad I did. All the information I read on the Internet about coffee said that perc'd coffee is not very good because the water is boiled and constantly recirculated through the grounds and this does not equate to how to achieve the best tasting coffee.

Well, while this was not the BEST coffee I have ever had, the coffee was none-the-less very good. I used Berkley and Jensen ground coffee (available at BJ's Wholesale club)and I could not have been more pleased with the results from this Party Perk. I used a little more than 2-1/2 cups of ground coffee for the full 42 cups and the information I read about expecting the pot to brew the coffee at one cup per minute seemed pretty accurate.

There were a lot of compliments on how good the coffee tasted. It did not taste burned, even after being kept warmed in the pot for a few hours.

I cannot comment on the durability of the machine as I haven't had it that long. My parents saw this pot and remarked that they had the same one for many many years before they gave it away and never had the first bit of trouble with it.

We got this coffee maker to replace our thirty year old 20 cup maker. After 2 months of constant use, it's still going strong. Unlike most people, we use this as our main coffee maker. It take us about 2 days to empty it. My husband fills his thermos when going to work and I still have coffee left over for the day.

The coffee maker makes a decent cup of coffee. Our only problem was we had 4 large cans of coffee in the cupboard that we could no longer use. We wound up wrapping them for Christmas presents. This coffee maker uses a courser ground coffee than the ADC makers. Luckily our grocery store has whole beans that you can grind to your specs.

My husband says he only wishes that it would come with a timer. I mentioned to him that this is normally used at a social function. We solved the problem with a timer that plugs into the outlet that we plug the maker into.

Eventually when this one goes out, we'll buy another one like this. The size and style fits well on our counter under the cupboard. It takes about 40-45 mins for a full pot to brew.

We've been using this model for years, mostly because it's cheap. A bit flimsy in construction, strainer allows too many grounds to settle in bottom. Good enough for the price; we'll buy another one.

The Delonghi was beautiful but only worked one time. Piece of junk.

This party perk is not as pretty, very basic but it works and keeps coffee fresh a long time. I made coffee for my superbowl party at 10am and it was still yummy at 9pm.

I needed two coffee urns for a large gathering and found two that seemed to fit my needs the West Bend and the Hamilton Beach 40515 42-Cup Coffee Urn, Silver. I decided to purchase one of each.

The Hamilton Beach blows the West Bend out of the water. It is much larger and better built.

Though they both are advertised as 42-cup, the Hamilton has a 10.5 liter capacity, while the West Bend only has a 7 liter capacity. That's 3.5 liters more (1.5x larger) than the West Bend that's a huge difference!

And finally, the West Bend just feels really cheap and flimsy. The Hamilton feels much more sturdy.

Hamilton wins this one hands down.
