Alessi Moka Stovetop Espresso Maker - 3 Cups

Alessi Moka Stovetop Espresso Maker - 3 CupsThe new Alessi Moka Stovetop Espresso Maker (3 cups) is just perfect. Not only does it make a great espresso, but it looks quite elegant too. I am really enjoying this little coffee maker it is the perfect size for a nice large espresso/capuccino for one or small shots for 3 people. I use it to make decaf espresso after dinner and whenever I need a small amount of coffee. I am sure the other sizes of this exceptional moka pot work just as well for those who have more people to serve. To sum it up, I find this espresso maker to be of exceptional quality, a pleasure to use and it makes good espresso too!

It was given as a gift and the recipient loves it. A perfect size for a single person, Coffee comes out great.

The product in general is great and I am very happy about it. the problem i got its that i purchased the medium size and they sent me the small one. i mean. how annoying is that ?

This is the third Moka pot I have owned of this size. The other two reliably dripped coffee down the side of the pot unless I used two hands and lifted the lid with one while I poured. This pot solves the problem by having a much wider pour spout that works perfectly as you would expect. Fit and finish is also superior.

DeLonghi DCF2212T 12-Cup Glass Carafe Drip Coffee Maker, Black

DeLonghi DCF2212T 12-Cup Glass Carafe Drip Coffee Maker, BlackOrdered this to replace a 2 year old version of the same model. Excellent coffeemaker. In addition to good coffee the unit is unique in that one can fill the water reservoir and coffee basket without having to pull the unit out from under an upper cabinet. Nearly all other coffeemakers have such large lids that it is impossible to open the water reservoir while the unit is under a cabinet. With this unit the coffee basket rotates out from the coffeemaker bringing the basket closer for filling both coffee and water.

We love the design and will purchase another one after this wears out.

It works , the problem so far is the plastic they used to view how much water is in the unit, it isn't clear plastic but rather opaque and the water level is difficult to see.

The clock/timer is way too slow to operate, I really dislike it.

I sent in the rebate offer and we'll see if send the $10.

Update:

(1)The basket is falling apart after one week.

Customer service doesn't stock the part so I used a glue gun for a temporary fix.

(2)A month later, no rebate check and still no basket.

(3)Still no rebate check and still no basket.

downgraded to 1 star for poor customer service.

This is my last DeLonghi product.

(4)Two months later still no basket and no rebate.

I purchased this unit over a year ago and after a few months it began leaking. I called customer service and they said it might be the basket, although they said there was no "wide-spread" problem. The new basket worked for several more months but then the unit began leaking all over the counter again. When I called customer service they once again denied that this was a common problem. A search of the internet looking for delonghi DCF 212T problems will show that this is a very common problem. I was told if I cut off the cord and sent it in with $15 they would send me a new unit as a "good will" gesture. I will most likely pay the $15 to get a new unit but can not believe DeLonghi would produce such an inferior product and then repeatedly deny any responsibility. Shame on Them! I have bought my last DeLonghi product.

I really like the front access for filling the water reservoir and the coffee filter. The aroma option indeed improves the flavor of the coffee, and the unit does make a better pot of brew than my old coffeemaker. But I have three complaints, and it seems they're simple, inexpensive features that would've earned this machine 4 or 5 stars.

First, the water level indicator ideally needs to be backlit. As a mediocre alternative, Delonghi could've used clear plastic so you could actually see the water level. As is, it's very difficult to see the level without shining a light directly on the indicator. Rather than going to the trouble, it's slightly easier to add a step to the process & fill the carafe with the quantity of water needed & pour it in the unit (otherwise, I'd pour directly from my Brita pitcher into the unit).

Second, the clock is unlit, which makes it almost worthless unless you're standing closer than 2 feet from the unit. My old 29.99 Mr. Coffee's clock was far superior. Shame.

Third, also related to the clock, setting the time or the automatic start timer is very cumbersome. Besides being hard to see the clock itself, to set the time, you have to hold the time set button as it ticks off each minute until reaching your desired time. So, for example, this morning I wanted the coffee to start brewing at 6:00, but tomorrow, I want it to begin at 5:45. I have to hold the button down until it scrolls for 23 3/4 hours! Again, my cheap old Mr. Coffee was far simpler with its "hour" and "minute" buttons.

When all is said & done, I like the machine because it makes good coffee...but with these simple additional features, I'd love it.

I had some serious reservations about buying this coffee maker based on the previous reviews that I've read, so I decided to buy it directly from Amazon (for the return policy) and test it myself. Here's the results: The coffee gets plenty hot (160 degrees on Aroma mode & 165 degrees off Aroma mode), the coffee brews plenty quick off Aroma mode (11 minutes), but is slow on Aroma mode (25 minutes), and, lastly, I found absolutely no difference in the taste or kitchen "aroma" when I put the Aroma mode on.

In general, I would not recommend using the Aroma mode at all, not really sure why they have it cause its not very useful. However, the coffee maker works great, fits very nicely under my cabinet, is easy to fill, and has a great little price tag for the product that you get!

Happy Brewing!!

BAR32 Retro Style Espresso Maker - Black(sold individuall)

BAR32 Retro Style Espresso Maker - Black(sold individuall)I bought the machine and it did good expresso for a month.

After that started leaking everywhere. Every time I did a coffee it was a mess.

And forget about the delonghi service. A disaster

I have been through three of these machines. One worked great for about 2 years then a cheap plastic piece on the filter handle and it would not seal and the other two acted up only after after two months of use! The seal on the coffee filter gets loose and this the espresso just drips out (if at all) and tastes bad. I would never get another Delounghi machine. I guess I like giving things a chance and using what I know but I've certainly learned my lesson on this piece of crap machine.

This is the best (so far) machine I have owned. It makes great espresso and nice froth. It is a little fussy about using only the "perfect grind", but once I figured this out, is good. The frothing wand works OK, but personally, I'd prefer one without the fancy air mixer. I was a little disappointed that a great Italian coffee machine maker would ship their product to PRC (China) for manufacture.

Nespresso CitiZ D120 Automatic and programmable Espresso and Lungo Machine w/Frother, Black

Nespresso CitiZ D120 Automatic and programmable Espresso and Lungo Machine w/Frother, BlackPros

Great tasting espresso.

Very simple to use (you press a single button).

No cleanup (except for rinsing out the frother after use and emptying the used pod bin once a week).

Cons

The volume of espresso that comes out is surprisingly small, so I have to use two pods in order to get the coffee flavor I desire. So now the cost per cup is over a $1 and getting closer to what I pay at Starbucks.

The volume of the milk is also fairly small. The container looks large enough but you can only fill it about 25% full because it will overflow. And even then it's not enough to fill my grande cup. So I have to froth two loads.

Can't use a coffee of your choice such as locally made, you have to use Nespresso pods. And since I only drink decaf I only have 3 choices, and only 1 of those, the intense (rated 7) is bold enough. The other two decaf pods are too mild. And don't think you can fill an empty pod with your own ground coffee. I thought I could get that to work but there is no way because of the way the pods are sealed and the pressure involved, unlike a simple pod coffee maker like a Keurig.

Someone mentioned the espresso was not hot enough but I'm finding I burn my tongue. I always pre-heat my cup by running a long coffee without a pod inserted. This also heats up all the mechanism and cleans the nozzle too.

I am finding myself using this appliance on the weekends and for my daily coffee I'm still going to Starbucks to get that bold flavor I crave. It's convenient on the weekends because I don't have to leave home to get my espresso. We were using an older model Gaggia and making our espresso old-school way. This certainly tastes much better and is so simple. Hope this helps someone.

I purchased this as a used item and found that it was actually new--a great buy for $100 off the $299 regular retail price. The box had apparently been opened, but the trial capsules were still in the box. I am a coffee geek and also own another superautomatic machine. I purchased this one as a travel machine for trips to see the grandkids, since it is compact, and for its frother. The design is beautiful and seems well constructed, although it has more plastic than I anticipated.

The frother works just as advertised. In a little over a minute you have one large serving of hot milk with foam that requires a spoon! That is a good thing. The frother is also almost silent, another bonus. If you like very warm milk, you may need to nuke it for 15 seconds in the micro.

The espresso machine has one weak point for American "supersize" tastes. I like at least a 12 oz Americano or Latte with a lot of strong coffee flavor. I do not usually drink pure espresso. To get that I need to use 2 capsules. That is expensive. The coffee flavor is good, with a decent crema on top.

Watching You-tube I found a demo on how to re-fill the metal capsules very easily. Simply slice around the thin foil top, empty the capsul, refill and wrap thin foil over the top. You can usually get two more uses from a used capsule. I also purchased the disposable plastic caps, they are only about 2-3 stars in my opinion. So by refilling, the 75 cent new capsules become more affordable. I read that patents on this machine are expiring this year, so maybe other suppliers will get into the capsule business, thus lowering the price.

Best of the best. Thats all I need to say. And the quality of the coffee and the quick ease of ordering from Nespresso makes it no issue at all.

A few thoughts about my purchase:

1) Espresso is fantastic: thick crema made possible by a 19 bar pump

2) The milk frother is excellent: very thick and fine. I could not achieve this level of froth with previous machines with steam wands

3) Selection of pods is pretty vast. Limited editions are available ~once a quarter. Quality is excellent this view is confirmed by my brother-in-law, who is a coffee broker

4) Some cities has boutiques where you can purchase pods. If not, online shipping is very quick

5) Both espresso maker and frother are well thought out designs and easy to operate. Materials seem robust.

So far nothing negative to report. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.

Received it as a wedding gift. Husband and I drink a lot of coffee. We usually pay anywhere from $3-5 for coffee from coffee shops. With this machine alone, in the past 9 months it has paid for itself.

Pros: So very easy to use. Clean up is also easy. Machine can self-clean after each espresso is made with a single push. End product tastes great!!! Espresso is hot but not burn your mouth hot. I still feel that coffee shop espresso and lattes taste better, however this machine does come pretty close. We add sugar free flavored syrups and chocolate to our lattes and they taste great!

No problems with the machine after 9 months and almost daily use.

Cons: Frother has to be handwashed (I'm lazy). Capsules are about 50-60 cents each online and regular stores (target, walmart, whole foods) do NOT carry them.

Overall: Overall great machine! You can save a lot of money in the long run if you use this machine daily vs going to a coffee shop. Would recommend trying it out first, I think crateandbarrel, williams sonoma and sur la table do have the machine and will let you try the espresso.
