Kalorik 1000-Watt 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Copper

Kalorik 1000-Watt 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, CopperI almost did not buy this product because of the reviews, but I did not believe that Consumers Report Magazine could be that wrong. This report stated that this product made excellent coffee due to the correct brewing temperature. That is exactly what the Kalorik does. After using it for several weeks now, I cannot support a single complaint against this product, except one. The pot is difficult to get back into the machine. Not because it fits too tightly as reported, but because the part that holds the coffee grounds sometimes prevents the pot from entering all the way. Another ridiculous complaint was that the opening was too small to pour the water. I do not have a clue what that was all about. I am a 78 year old man and I can pour a full pot of water into the machine without spilling a drop. There is two large openings on both sides of the machine. Go figure. Another statement was that the Kalorik belched out steam. I learned that hot water makes steam. It takes hot water to make good coffee, so if you do not want the steam, get a pot that does not heat the water and you will eliminate the steam problem. Again, I did not find the steam to be excessive and I have the coffee maker under the cupboards. The Kalorik is not pretty, but it makes an excellent cup of coffee. Like a woman, I will take quality over looks anytime.

In short, read between the lines when using customer reviews to help make your purchase.

This machine functions. Enthusiastically. I'm really happy with how quickly it operates. It's also a very striking coffee maker. The timer and clock, on/off button are very no-nonsense, with no learning curve, which I love, plus the water level is clearly visible. It is, however, really noisy towards the end of the brew cycle. The carafe fits extra snugly in the coffee maker housing; it takes slight practice to place it smoothly. It also has a heavy plastic feel and is a matte copper -coloronly. I hope I'm paying a bit more for mechanical quality, because the exterior materials don't really reflect the price point. Still, overall, this machine goes great with my other copper countertop small appliances, is a very attractive machine, and functions exceptionally well. It's definitely a keeper, although I feel I'm definitely paying more for the couple extra cups of capacity plus the unusual look of this coffeemaker.

We bought the coffee maker at the end of July and it provided a little more than 90-days of coffee before dying. First the hotplate went cold, then it failed to make coffee. The last "K" in KALORIK fell off with the first cleaning. The fancy lettering (I was not pleased with the built-in bold brand advertisement)is attached with a silicone adhesive backing that can't be reapplied once it falls off. Other than that, while it worked, it provided pretty good coffee.

First, no one in the Kalorik customer service department knows what size cone filters this thing takes. That being said, I have yet to make a pot of coffee. But in conditioning the coffeemaker by running 3 pots of clean water through it, I see that it is leaking puddles all over the place. Next, the area you have to pour water through is a very narrow track around the filter, one inch wide at the widest, to about 3/8 of an inch wide -nearly impossible without dripping all over. If you accidently get water in the filter area, it goes right through to the hotplate. If this isn't bad enough, what looks like copper/stainless in the photo is actually just copper color silkscreened over plastic. The brand name is in large stainless colored plastic letters. There is no stainless on this coffee maker, save the stainless ring around the bottom of the glass pot. Finally, it is noisy -really noisy. I bought this to replace a 23-year old coffee maker that was much quieter than this. Oh, and did I mention the ungodly amounts of steam that comes right out the top vents? If it's under a low cupboard, it could do some serious damage in time. Also, it is HOT!!! (obviously, it is steam). Needless to say, I will be returning this pronto. Nice to look at if that's all you want it for, but if you want to actually make a pot of coffee and not ruin everything within a few feet of the coffee pot, then you can do way, way better than this -and probably for half the price. Also, the picture is misleading. The large band of "stainless" at the bottom of the pot is actually just black plastic on the one I received. Too bad, it couldda been a contender.

Sure I read the reviews before buying this... the negatives always shine more brightly... unable to fill up the water reservoir, hard to place coffee pot on burner, unable to locate the size of the coffee filters, breaks quickly... I was just another coffeeholic looking for my morning cup of Joe as my last coffee maker broke. I had the most expensive Cuisinart coffee marker which died after 12 mo. My latest Costco cheapo MrCoffee maker died after 12 mo. I am convinced none will last but would I stop drinking coffee?! Nope so I gave this one a chance... easy to fill up, angle the coffee pot for a nice tight fit, size 4 filters as shown in the book and will it make it longer than 1 year... TBD. No complaints thus far.

DeLonghi DCF2212T 12-Cup Glass Carafe Drip Coffee Maker, Black

DeLonghi DCF2212T 12-Cup Glass Carafe Drip Coffee Maker, BlackOrdered this to replace a 2 year old version of the same model. Excellent coffeemaker. In addition to good coffee the unit is unique in that one can fill the water reservoir and coffee basket without having to pull the unit out from under an upper cabinet. Nearly all other coffeemakers have such large lids that it is impossible to open the water reservoir while the unit is under a cabinet. With this unit the coffee basket rotates out from the coffeemaker bringing the basket closer for filling both coffee and water.

We love the design and will purchase another one after this wears out.

It works , the problem so far is the plastic they used to view how much water is in the unit, it isn't clear plastic but rather opaque and the water level is difficult to see.

The clock/timer is way too slow to operate, I really dislike it.

I sent in the rebate offer and we'll see if send the $10.

Update:

(1)The basket is falling apart after one week.

Customer service doesn't stock the part so I used a glue gun for a temporary fix.

(2)A month later, no rebate check and still no basket.

(3)Still no rebate check and still no basket.

downgraded to 1 star for poor customer service.

This is my last DeLonghi product.

(4)Two months later still no basket and no rebate.

I purchased this unit over a year ago and after a few months it began leaking. I called customer service and they said it might be the basket, although they said there was no "wide-spread" problem. The new basket worked for several more months but then the unit began leaking all over the counter again. When I called customer service they once again denied that this was a common problem. A search of the internet looking for delonghi DCF 212T problems will show that this is a very common problem. I was told if I cut off the cord and sent it in with $15 they would send me a new unit as a "good will" gesture. I will most likely pay the $15 to get a new unit but can not believe DeLonghi would produce such an inferior product and then repeatedly deny any responsibility. Shame on Them! I have bought my last DeLonghi product.

I really like the front access for filling the water reservoir and the coffee filter. The aroma option indeed improves the flavor of the coffee, and the unit does make a better pot of brew than my old coffeemaker. But I have three complaints, and it seems they're simple, inexpensive features that would've earned this machine 4 or 5 stars.

First, the water level indicator ideally needs to be backlit. As a mediocre alternative, Delonghi could've used clear plastic so you could actually see the water level. As is, it's very difficult to see the level without shining a light directly on the indicator. Rather than going to the trouble, it's slightly easier to add a step to the process & fill the carafe with the quantity of water needed & pour it in the unit (otherwise, I'd pour directly from my Brita pitcher into the unit).

Second, the clock is unlit, which makes it almost worthless unless you're standing closer than 2 feet from the unit. My old 29.99 Mr. Coffee's clock was far superior. Shame.

Third, also related to the clock, setting the time or the automatic start timer is very cumbersome. Besides being hard to see the clock itself, to set the time, you have to hold the time set button as it ticks off each minute until reaching your desired time. So, for example, this morning I wanted the coffee to start brewing at 6:00, but tomorrow, I want it to begin at 5:45. I have to hold the button down until it scrolls for 23 3/4 hours! Again, my cheap old Mr. Coffee was far simpler with its "hour" and "minute" buttons.

When all is said & done, I like the machine because it makes good coffee...but with these simple additional features, I'd love it.

I had some serious reservations about buying this coffee maker based on the previous reviews that I've read, so I decided to buy it directly from Amazon (for the return policy) and test it myself. Here's the results: The coffee gets plenty hot (160 degrees on Aroma mode & 165 degrees off Aroma mode), the coffee brews plenty quick off Aroma mode (11 minutes), but is slow on Aroma mode (25 minutes), and, lastly, I found absolutely no difference in the taste or kitchen "aroma" when I put the Aroma mode on.

In general, I would not recommend using the Aroma mode at all, not really sure why they have it cause its not very useful. However, the coffee maker works great, fits very nicely under my cabinet, is easy to fill, and has a great little price tag for the product that you get!

Happy Brewing!!

Capresso 4440 10-Cup Stainless Carafe for Capresso MT-500

Capresso 4440 10-Cup Stainless Carafe for Capresso MT-500this is a suitable replacement for my Krups machine. The glass feels flimsy so it may break before I get much use from it(like the krups version did) The fit under the spout is a little tight but not overly so. Overall it works for my purposes.

This was exactly what I was looking for! It seems to be great quality and is a perfect replacement for the original that broke!

Our Capresso carafe broke on the kitchen floor. We ordered this replacement and it works perfectly.

The parts fit snuggly and it feels like good quality metal and plastic that will last several more years.

It's a useful replacement for the carafe I broke though for some reason it leaks more than the original when I'm pouring the coffee.

Stella Inox Lucido 6-cup Stainless Steel Stovetop Espresso Maker #496

Stella Inox Lucido 6-cup Stainless Steel Stovetop Espresso Maker #496That's what I said to myself the first time I made a cup of espresso in my Stella Inox Lucido. I was looking for a non-electric, stainless steel stove-top espresso maker that had no plastic or aluminum parts. I also wanted the option of making one cup for me or two cups for for both myself and my husband. We drink more in our cup than the standard espresso sized cup. this has the stainless steel "mesh" which can be turned over for 1-3 cups, but I find that it works fine by just putting less coffee grounds into the basket. I also did find that you really should have at least 1/2 a pot of water for it to percolate properly, which means at least 3 espresso-sized cups must be made at a time. If I need to make more than one pot, I simply run it under cool water and it cools off very quickly so it can be handled and refilled right away.

This espresso maker is solidly built and Although I do not open it up by the handle, the handle feels sturdy. If I pour just half the pot into my cup and keep the rest in the pot, the thick stainless steel retains enough heat to keep the coffee warm for me to drink about 15 minutes later. I grind my coffee beans super fine and I get only a tiny amount of the finest powder in the bottom of the cup.

One of the best things about this espresso maker besides making great tasting coffee, is the ingenious handle design. Being angled out, if I set the pot just on the edge of the flame, the handle actually stays cool and I don't need a pot holder to lift it off the stove and pour into a cup.

I am so happy with my choice espresso maker, I can't think of anything I don't like about it. Like I said, Perfect!

Krups 030 Perfect Froth Milk Frother

Krups 030 Perfect Froth Milk FrotherKrups has been installing a hard plastic cover on the frother wand of their recent models. This technology is neither as effective nor as resilient as the old "perfect froth" attachment. My hard plastic one broke within two weeks, and sending it back to Krups elicited no response at all, so I just bought the "perfect froth" attachment, and it works fine.

Oh, little piece of metal and rubber! You make my morning latte yummy and frothy. How I love you so. If only you could stay far, far, away from the black abyss ... the destructive force that chews you up and spits you out! If you need to purchase this replacement part and you have a disposal, then buy a hundred. This part inevitably ends up twisted and broken.

Buy Krups 030 Perfect Froth Milk Frother Now

The Perfect Froth Milk Frother is the perfect frother for my Krups Il Caffee Duomo's froth wand, which I've been using to make pretty decent lattes for around 11 years now. My first one disappeared entirely one day, but until that day it worked fine.

My replacement one has now been serving me well for at least 4 years. The only maintenance I ever do on it, besides washing it with hot water and occasionally dish soap, is I sometimes need to unclog the tiny top rubber stopper with the end of a paper clip or a push pin.

If it ever looks (or sounds) like your frother isn't doing the job, try the paper clip trick in the top rubber end, or pull off the frother entirely and put the paper clip up into the metal wand.

Until we decide to drop $1,000 or more on a fancy Espresso machine, I'm sticking with my Krups. The durability of it and its accessibility (and price) of spare parts to this day makes it an inexpensive way to make good lattes at home.
